UC cops kills man.

Looking at the screen grabs you posted, it does appear the car has moved in relation to the car in the background. However, those images could be slightly misleading. It's all about the angles. In the picture on the left, Tensing is more forward on the car than he is in the picture on the right. This could be because the car is moving or he took a step that way. If he stepped towards the back of the car, it will make it appear that the car moved in relation to the parked car.

I guess my bigger point is Channel 5 story is garbage and you can't come to the conclusion they did with the video. You and I both just pointed out two different scenarios using the same screen shots. neither can be proven.

We are all looking at him in piecemeal. I see him more as a young officer that held a lot of promise but needed better training, oversight, and mentors.

That is a good point. Probably not fair of me to judge him completely on 2 videos. Maybe he is a good guy that just had some shortcomings at his job, unfortunately we haven't been shown that side (and rarely do you see videos of the good in life/people).

Very true. But would you be on board with saying this: "Based on the slowed down video and frame-by-frame captures, the assertion by (former) Officer Tensing that he was dragged by Sam DuBose is inherently false as the video shows that the car moved, at most, only a few feet (3-4), if at all, before the shot by Tensing was fired."??

From doing a lot of training of very young officers I "recognize Tensing."

Here is an article that tells us a little more about the good side of him:

An Enquirer review of public records and multiple interviews help fill in blanks about Tensing’s path toward police work.

As a teenager, Tensing received praise for his dedication to learning about law enforcement in the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Explorers Program.

After graduating from Colerain in 2008, Tensing attended Ohio State University before transferring to UC Clermont’s police academy. Tensing went on to receive his bachelor’s degree at the main UC campus, graduating with honors in spring 2012.

Tensing received satisfactory job reviews over a four-year career with the UC, Greenhills and Colerain Township police forces.

Still, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Tensing “should have never been a police officer,” but has declined to elaborate on that claim beyond discussing the DuBose shooting.

“I don’t think this man has a clue what he’s talking about,” said Justin Shereen, who was in the Explorers Program with Tensing at Colerain and still occasionally hangs out with him. “Ray took his career very seriously. He was a great police officer.”

Deters’ comments, however, raise questions about what’s not known about a guy who’s been in headlines across the globe in recent days. Among the unknowns: What led Tensing to quit the Ohio State Highway Patrol after just one day on the job in September 2013?

Jobs with the state highway patrol are considered highly competitive and prestigious. An applicant is required to pass a months-long, rigorous background and interviewing process. Tensing started the state patrol’s 26-week academy in Columbus on Sept. 18, 2013, but quit the following day, patrol spokesman Sgt. Vincent Shirey told The Enquirer.

Tensing cited his reason for leaving as he “couldn’t adapt to the training environment,” Shirey said.

Where is "around here?"

Huntington/Ashland. I live in Ashland, but most of the murders occur in Huntington. Rarely ever do you see a bond over $250,000.

Makes total sense to me about him not being able to hack the training, those guys train almost military style. He crapped his pants when Dubose made a move.

He better enjoy his freedom, it won't last.

And unlike the officer, the other guy can't post bail to get out, because he was murdered.

I agree it won't last. I don't think the murder charge will stick, but I do believe he will get some jail time.

It is tragic anytime someone loses their life, especially at a young age and under circumstances that could have been avoided. Teaching your kids right and wrong and a good upbringing is becoming more and more important in today's society.

I do one better, I could say pretty much that with out the frame by frame captures and just the normal speed video.

I just started another thread with a new stabilized (and otherwise COMPLETELY unedited) version of Tensing's body cam.

You can clearly see where Officer Tensing is using his left arm to restrain DuBose by pushing him back against the drivers seat while he reaches in with right arm, holding his sidearm, and shoots DuBose in the head.

You can clearly see that DuBose is never holding onto Tensing's arms, nor is he doing anything else to keep Tensing inside the vehicle while he attempts to drive off.

As far as I can see, it pretty much proves Tensing's "dragging" claim to be a lie.

I didn't see it on here so I apologize if I missed it, but Tensing/union files grievance to get his job back.

FOP: Ray Tensing files grievance with University of Cincinnati to get his job back - Story

That's just the Union doing what the Union is supposed to do...go to bat for its members. He was allegedly fired without "due process", as is stated in the University's contract with the FOP, so the FOP is saying he should be given his job back until they have gone through the due process he is contractually deserved of.

Wow...

A guy I worked with was in the hiring process for the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OHP) and our department at the same time. He chose our department. In short, OHP is not for everyone and it certainly would have not been for me. In other words, the case could easily be made that Tensing realized OHP was not for him and he made a brave decision to leave the academy - and that decision should not be used against him now unless OHP is going to go on the record and claim they forced him out.

How did you get that out of what I said?

I picked up that you were saying even though you had frame by frame stills you still couldn't judge exactly the placement of the scene due to angles etc. you said it could be misleading.

Do you think he should be charged and face life? Or was he acting within police procedures?
