They won't sign Cueto in the off season.

Oh, you don't say. So why would they keep him for the rest of the year then?

That is my point and small market has nothing to do with it. If they were winners they would sell tickets. St Louis has no problem competing year in and year out. Pittsburgh seems pretty competitive the last few years. It it comes down to willing to spend the money and keep the players who can help you win' date=' not trade them off and hope the blind squirrel finds a nut. I know it's about money. I'm not that naive. As I said awhile ago, if you can't afford to own a MLB team then don't own one.[/quote']

They let Pujols go...it's about being ahead of the curve which STL always seems to be.

It doesn't matter if you're willing to spend money or not. It's how wisely you spend it, and how you make the most of the assets you have to make your team better. The Reds generally fail miserably at this because they haven't had a decent GM in forever.

Knew just when to get rid of their old GM, too.

Bingo!

If you're a Cueto fan, and want to see him pitch...the Royals-Tigers game is on MLB Network. Weird watching him pitch in a blue uni.

3rd good start in a row for 47.

Reminds me how lucky we were to have him for 8 years. He's a fun guy to watch pitch. CG game shutout.

Cueto with a complete game, four-hit shutout. Don't know what the final numbers were, but seemed like he threw 90 strikes and only 30 balls. Toyed with the Tigers tonight.

I want to see Cueto get it done in the post season. He seemed to get rattled the last time he pitched in the post season.

I agree since Reds have 0 chance of signing him I the off season.

Saw the highlights this morning. He was impressive.

I watched a fair amount of Cueto's game last night -- hate that he's no longer a Red but I'm glad he's pitching for a playoff contender for a city that loves & supports their team. KC was rocking last night! Cueto received a standing O on his way out to the mound to start the 9th.

He was keeping the Detroit hitters off balance all night. The MLB Tonight crew mentioned that he didn't even appear to be working hard, and was just messing with the Tigers. He's a stud...

You could tell he was having a lot of fun out there last night. Mixed in a ton of different deliveries. Quick pitching then pausing. Stuff that us Reds fans are used to seeing but the Royals fans were going crazy on twitter. Threw in a shoulder shimmy a few times and was laughing about it after the pitch. He was really enjoying himself.

Really reminded me of someone pitching wiffle ball in the back yard. Heck, the only thing he didn't do was go Dan Quisenberry on someone.
