Johnny Cueto

No chance. Standing O without a doubt.

Like UK fans, I've learned to never overestimate Reds fans. They do come from the same stock, after all.

Except UK fans younger than 30 have experienced championship seasons

So says the man who still hates the Eagles, and has Dusty Rhodes as an avatar. Really?

Cueto wouldn't get booed. May not get a standing O, but likely won't start anyway so it's no biggie.

UK fans are a bit different, I will grant you. Some have zero clue if the football team ever plays a game. Many don't care. Even when it comes to bball they are hard to deal with.

Reds fans on the other hand include a lot of area's of Ohio. Not the same stock at all. Poor comparison.

Is that why OSU fans, Bengals fans, UK fans and Reds fans all exhibit remarkably similar behavior? Same stock.

I was in KC this week and they're all pretty geeked to have Cueto.

In my first post I was mostly having fun with your disdain for the Eagles and apparent infatuation with Dusty. But, it's all good.

When it comes to fan bases though, you are painting with an awfully broad brush. All that you mention have over the top fans, no question. As do most every team.

Personally, I've found Reds fans to be fairly polite by and large. And, as fans go, they tend to have pretty good baseball knowledge. I'd have a hard time lumping them with the masses of the other three. Not the same stock to me.

Pretty typical when it comes to him and UK fans.

Six innings 7 hits, 3 ER, leaves with a lead.

The strong majority of people that have been paying attention all agree that this was a good deal for the Reds. Trading Cueto sucks, but it's the best thing for the future of the organization.

I remember in the old days,(70's and 80's) it seemed like trades were such a huge deal, one star for another star. Those big huge deals involving 6-8 players with several stars exchanging teams don't seem to happen. This is a good deal for the Reds.

Define "Good Deal"

Any deal that gets you further from a championship caliber team can never be considered a good deal.

This was a great deal for Cueto. He is now with a team that can actually give him run support. A Cy Young season is in the horizon for him.

Play GM for us, what would your lineup look like next year and what do you think the payroll would be? Who would you get rid of from this years team that sucked and who would you replace them with?

So by that logic this is a great deal because the Reds can still try to sign Cueto in the off season and now we got some promising young guys in return.

Guessing he doesn't understand the concept in the small-market baseball biz that it's almost always better to take one step back for three steps up rather than one step up and two steps back.

Hellbird, do you not grasp that, no matter what, the Reds were not going to pay Cueto's market price after this year?

They won't sign Cueto in the off season.

That is my point and small

market has nothing to do with it. If they were winners they would sell

tickets. St Louis has no problem competing year in and year out. Pittsburgh seems pretty competitive the last few years.

It it comes down to willing to spend the money and keep the players who can help you win, not trade them off and hope the blind squirrel finds a nut.

I know it's about money. I'm not that naive. As I said awhile ago, if you can't afford to own a MLB team then don't own one.
