July 22, 201511 yr Newcomb is throwing well and could be a great pitcher. But I would have a hard time giving up a MLB proven hitter who can play the field too for a guy who hasn't advanced past single A. I'm not sure what the market value is on Bruce, but for reasons already posted in this thread maybe it is better to hold. It's easy to jump on the Bruce bandwagon when he is hot (me) but WHAT IF he has turned the corner. Or.. What if he is the 2012/2013 Bruce? No way I trade that guy for a single a pitcher.
July 23, 201511 yr My biggest pet peeve with Bruce is that he always looks like he's guessing at the plate. I know everyone is guessing to some extent but I've never seen anyone swing so hard at an 85 mph slider 2 feet out of the strike zone in my life. He may need contacts or those cool Wild Thang glasses Ricky Vaughn wore.

July 25, 201511 yr Wait, were they showing 2014 videos of JJ the last couple of appearances? Thought he would be heir to Chapman's throne once Aroldis was gone. Is he pressing lately?

If Hoover is the replacement to close a game, the Reds will be in big trouble. He is horrendous. (insert somebody replying with meaningless stats trying to explain that he is actually good)
July 25, 201511 yr If Hoover is the replacement to close a game, the Reds will be in big trouble. He is horrendous. (insert somebody replying with meaningless stats trying to explain that he is actually good) How many outings has he had this year? How many of them have been bad?
July 25, 201511 yr What do the Reds need a top closer for anyway? They are going to lose 90 plus games and probably won't compete next year either. Now is the time to package Chapman with Cueto or Bruce and strike a blockbuster deal for the future. Rumor had it the Reds offered Cueto and Chapman to the Dodgers for Puig and some prospects but the Dodgers didn't bite. That is the type of deal this team needs. This is the most important trade deadline in years.

July 25, 201511 yr Puig. Do the Redlegs really want another head case? There was zero chance of Puig coming here, but if they did make the offer its hard to turn down a 3 hole hitter with 4 more years of control. No matter how much of a head case he is

No matter how much of a head case he is I guess but, Redlegs probably have one at first, second base is debatable, and one coming off Tommy John surgery. That's just the obvious ones.
July 25, 201511 yr How many outings has he had this year? How many of them have been bad? Oh goodness. He had a stretch where he was doing well then went right back to the JJ Hoover everyone has come to know. Don't try and sell me that he's good. You can believe that all you want but I won't.

You can believe that all you want but I won't. So you won't answer my questions? Good to know you're avoiding the conversation because it may not support your rant. So I'll answer them for you. 44 games (43.1 IP) on the year. In those 44 games he's given up 9 earned runs. That "stretch" as you call it was 30 games (28.2 IP) where he didn't allow an earned run. In 39 of his 44 games he didn't allow an earned run (38.2 IP). But please tell me how bad he is.
