July 21, 201511 yr The HR Derby only took players that were in the All-Star game this year. He was actually on the ballot for the All-Star game. No clue where you got that one. :lol2:
July 21, 201511 yr So he has plenty of time to regress? He was a much better hitter in his early days. Again. Not true.
July 21, 201511 yr Wrong. Ok, I was wrong. I'll go out on a limb and say he didn't have a snowballs chance. Soooooooo, what's he worth?
July 21, 201511 yr Jay Bruce was 9th in All-Star voting for OF. Not sure where you got that he wasn't on the ballot.

July 21, 201511 yr At his age, with his production, coupled with his defense, he's about $15M per... Based on his projections for the year he's probably worth at least that on the open market.

July 21, 201511 yr The more I think about it and read some of your posts, the more my mind changes to holding onto Bruce. Frazier, Votto, Bruce, Meso is a nice core.
July 21, 201511 yr Based on his projections for the year he's probably worth at least that on the open market. Oh easily. I was intentionally being conservative with that. He puts up a .250 average with roughly 30 HRs and 85 RBI a year. Young left-handed bat. Great defense. Definitely a major team friendly contract.

Definitely a major team friendly contract. 25+ HRs 85+ RBI .800+ OPS less than 25 guys in all of MLB did that last year. Look I'm not saying Bruce is the cornerstone of the franchise. But to act like he is worthless is just ridiculous.
July 21, 201511 yr 25+ HRs 85+ RBI .800+ OPS less than 25 guys in all of MLB did that last year. Yep. Before last season he had 3 straight of 30+ HRs, 95+ RBI and an .800+ OPS. I'm sure the list of guys who did that in 3 straight seasons is very small. Just looked it up, exactly 2 individuals had those numbers each season during that 3 year period. Jay Bruce and Miguel Cabrera.
July 21, 201511 yr ^.321 avg, 6 HRs, 19 RBI and a .370 OBP in the last 30 games. Keep bashing him though. Last 54 games, .310 avg, 10 HR's, 32 RBI and a .381 OBP. Pretty good couple of months. Lance said this on twitter today: "Scout said Jay is looking like the guy I thought could someday win an MVP when I first some him years ago" I like Bruce and it wouldn't bother me to keep him. It also wouldn't bother me if we traded for some good prospects. Angels are supposedly very interested.

I'd accept nothing less from them than Newcomb (2014 1st round pick and their only top 100 prospect), the big left-handed SP.
