June 22, 201610 yr BTW after this year isnt Jay a 10/5 guy? He doesn't even have 8 years of service time so no.
June 22, 201610 yr He doesn't even have 8 years of service time so no. According to baseball reference he is in service year 9.
June 22, 201610 yr According to baseball reference he is in service year 9. So you need 10 years of service time and 5 with the same team to qualify. So why would he get it after 9 years?
June 22, 201610 yr According to baseball reference he is in service year 9. He was under 8 years as of the start of the season. He will be traded and then it won't matter anyway.
June 22, 201610 yr Why do you go out of your way to be so obtuse in these threads? It's beyond tiring. Why do you go half way in your post. Its easy to say we have to trade a guy, but there is two sides to a trade sometimes more. Have to have the other team in the trade. How did the trades work out with Phillips? What about Bruce in the offseason when the other team said no?

How did the trades work out with Phillips? What about Bruce in the offseason when the other team said no? The Reds had a trade in place for Bruce in the off-season. The other team didn't say no. Any team in contention in need of a bat will call the Reds about Bruce. It's that simple.

June 22, 201610 yr Any team? Bruce can only play RF and maybe CF right? Limits his audience. I listed like 9 teams earlier. Any team that is in contention will call the Reds regarding the asking price for Bruce. He leads all RF's in HRs, leads all ML OF's in RBI, has a .282/.333/.588 slash line. There are very few, if any, teams that couldn't improve themselves by adding that to their lineup. He can play RF, LF, or DH.

June 22, 201610 yr Off the top of my head... Mets Nationals Giants Dodgers Orioles White Sox Royals Angels Indians Sorry I missed this post. Giants - Didnt we raid their cabinet already? Royals - do they have anything left to trade? Angels - Arent they trying to get rid of Trout, if so do you take on the payroll? Indians - Dont know what they have. Dodgers - I dont think they will want to take on his salary. (I know that sounds odd for them but gut feeling) Mets/Orioles, White Sox - all possibles.

(I know that sounds odd for them but gut feeling) Mets/Orioles, White Sox - all possibles. Giants - have about 4-5 above average prospects. It'd take 2 of them IMO. Royals - have a very weak system, but depends on what they're willing to give up. Angels - seriously? Did you really ask if the Reds were going to trade Bruce for Trout? Indians - nice system. Have a trio of really nice bats, and a couple nice arms. Dodgers - money never an issue. Have a very good system still. Mets - have a handful of really nice prospects. Wheeler would've been ideal, but his setback is a major red-flag IMO. Orioles - weak system. Not sure how well they match up. White Sox - still have about 3-4 above average prospects. Probably could match up if they're interested enough.
June 22, 201610 yr DH good point there. Plus if you are the Reds you dont want to see him in the NL. As long as it's not the Central I don't think that will be a problem. I don't see the Cubs being an option for him anyway.
