As much as I love Jeff for all he did for Boyle, I would agree. Honorable Mention is a good thing on this list.

 

Trust me though, Duggins would have started on any HHS team. It's just he would have likely started at LB. He was an athlete and football player, wherever you played him.

I remember watching Duggins play. He was just a very hard nosed player. Reminded me of the Beechwood QB back in the 90's....Wilhoit or Wilmhoff? Just an okay QB but an unbelievable LB.

Plus he played at Vandy with a horrific passer most of the time. Cole was crazy as a WR, I know I come off as a Homer but no way there were 4 better than him in High School since 2000.

 

Harbaugh actually flew into Somerset to recruit him.

Duggins was perfect for the system that Pardue ran. He read the option well out of the spread, was a good runner when he kept it, had Matt Quinn and Casey McCoy to hand off to, and good receivers to throw to on the play action.

Saw both Cole and Fant up close...

 

Cole was a lightning bolt and a spooky guy to try and cover.

Fant...just forget about it, you couldn't cover him. Period.

Fant was clearly better in my opinion.

 

Adding to the list:

Eli Brown - LB - Warren East - US Army All American, held numerous offers including Ohio State and USC before committing to UK this year.

Shenard Holton - ATH - Warren East - UofL - If your team played against him or you watched him, you know what I'm talking about. Totally dominated both sides of the ball. Unbelievable talent.

 

What's crazy, Brown and Holton are cousins.

Two I would consider:

 

Aaron Pettrey K, Raceland. Aaron set, and still holds, the state record for longest FG. (I admittedly do not know how this record is affected by the JC "Free Kick" that was a yard longer then Aaron's FG). Pettrey was the best High School kick this man has seen. Received a D1 scholarship to Ohio State and kicked in the Rose Bowl. Pettrey kicked in several NFL games and currently has a career in the Arena League where he led the league in scoring last season.

 

Robby Logan OL/DL, Raceland. Robby was two time All-State and his senior season we was All-State on both offense and defense. He received D1 offers, but ultimately chose to attend Georgetown (he fell in the category of not getting good recruiting advise and was not as well known as he should have been). He left college after one season as a starter as a freshman for personal reason. He currently plays for a lower level semi-pro team and has been successful doing that, winning several league championships.

I would also consider:

 

Arliss Beach RB, Ashland. Beach set several records at Ashland was a D1 recruit at UK where his career was sporadic, but he ended up playing in the NFL some and staying on practice squads in the NFL for several years. But, in High School, he as near the top of performers.

 

Chris Jennings RB, Fairview. A man among boys in high school. Played D1 football at Arizona and played in the NFL for the Browns and Jets for several years and played in the CFL (and may still be there).

I would think that meant that Stanford wanted him pretty badly as a WR for Luck...to fly from Cali or So Ky...

OL- I'm not sure if Rob Smith from Highlands played more than one year in this time frame. POY candidate, multiple All American teams, 2 year starter at Tennessee and made an appearance in the NFL.
