  1. Mike Diller is indeed the new head coach at Lewis Co. Kelsey Diller (Another former Raceland Assistant) will join his staff and work with pitchers.
  2. July 25th at Morehead City Park (Home of Rowan Co. Vikings) the 2nd Annual 16th Region Baseball All Star Game will take place. Start time is 7 pm. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults. Justin Graham will be throwing out the first pitch.
  3. Tournament time or not I didn't understand why Greenup changed their gameplan. They've played fast basketball all season and then last night tried to slow it down and it almost cost them. Raceland played super hard and had a few kids get hot down the stretch.
  4. Any word on the resignation of coach kelly at Lewis Co? 1st game is in a little over a month. Any replacements pop into anyones head?
  5. I agree that there are many good coaches in the 16th Region but I believe the combination of Greg & Steve Logan at Greenup is at the top of this list. Since they have took over that program has took a huge up swing and been very consistent even in the years they have a "dip" in talent.
  6. What's word coming out of camp on Greenup?
  7. According to the Ashland Daily Independent, 16th Region Sports are still looking for Sponsors for their All-Star Games July 18th & July 19th. Softball takes place on the 18th followed by baseball. Questions and comments about sponsorships can be sent to 16thregsports@gmail.com or on Twitter @16th_Sports

  9. Coaches for game per twitter are Greg Logan (Greenup) Keith Prater (Rowan) David Kelly (Lewis) Jeremiah Shearer (EC)
  10. haha anytime. Personally, yes i agree that Hughes is one of the best in state. He has power from both sides of the plate as he has Hr's from both sides. He is a true switch hitter as he hits lefty vs righties and vice versa. Slick fielder as well. Bright future ahead. I also believe that GC has the best up the middle combination in the state. Combination of Shoupe, Hughes, Gammon, & Hunt is something every high school baseball fan needs to see. That being said I'm not taking anything away from the corner infield and outfield as they are impressive as well. Tomorrow should be a good game, I'm hoping the musketeers can continue the story though.
  11. Hughes is a Sophomore and commited to Cincinnati. He also is a switch hitter not just a left handed hitter.
  12. batting avg hughes .394 gammon .388 greene .341 runs hughes 48 gammon 45 shoupe 38 rbis hughes 55 gammon 32 jared hunt 30 doubles downing wireman 8 hughes 7 gammon shoupe 6 triples hughes 7 gammon shoupe 6 jared hunt 5 Hrs hughes 8 Shoupe Christian Wireman 2 couple others with 1 Sb's Gammon 23 Hughes 15 Jared Hunt 11 Wins Downing 9 Lambert Wireman 8 Keeton 6
  13. As of now, Greenup will play the following Lafayette tonight @ 8pm Madison Central Saturday @ 1:30pm East Jessamine Saturday @ 4:00pm
  14. if anyone can post the full schedule for the Fayette Invitational please do so.
  15. These two face off again tonight @ Racelnad. I'd say we will see Morris for Raceland, not sure what route GC will go with it.
  16. Kyle has been spectaucular all around so far this year. The combination of him and hughes up the middle is one of the best middle infields in the state for sure, willing to bet the best sophomore middle infield.
  17. The #14 you're talking about is Junior to be Chase Hunt. Chase does have a good arm and is also a baseball player like Jared Hunt was. Not sure on relation, but I do know they aren't brothers. Greenups key thing is going to be establishing an identity early on. Spring game is tonight, so that may give everyone somewhat of an outlook. Granted some players won't be on the field due to baseball. I'd also look at maybe Wright as a Qb depending what offense they're going with.
  18. If you include Northeastern KY in this then you have to mention Gage Hughes SS at Greenup County. Gage is a current Cincinnati Verbal.
  19. Gage Hughes has 5 RBI's on a 3 run Hr and a 2 run Hr. Jared Hunt with a RBI double and Wireman with a sac fly to make it 7-0. Lambert was on the mound for Greenup and McKee started for Russell. I'd say they will be lucky to finish this one up today.
  20. Keeton started on the mound for greenup and struggled from the get go for the first time all season really. Downing come on to pitch in the lae 2nd if i remember correctly. Downing held russell in check for the most part but GC errors were still a problem. Not sure on the total number but i know walks in the first 2 innings and errors throughout the whole game hurt the musketeers. GC scored its first two runs on a combination of walks, errors, and passed balls. Russell pitcher had a no hitter deep into the game but greenup bats finally got it going with a greene single. shortly after Gage hughes hit a 3 run go ahead hr to give them the lead. wireman tacked on a rbi double to make it 8-4. Errors led to another run in the top of the 6th to make it 8-5 which became the final. GC looked nervous and tight from the get go. Russell kid, Layne pitched well until he got in the jam in the 5th. Gc found a way to win but didn't have their best performance by any means.
  21. Gc beats Cincinnati Anderson 4-3 & then in a back to back situation beats Scott @ Scott High 4-2. Gc returns to action Monday against Spring Valley, WV to put the perfect record on the line.
  22. 16th Region Sports Fans that have Twitter go follow @16th_sports for 16th Region Facts, scores, & Blogs as well as weekly features on teams/players in the 16th Region.
  23. Greenup moves to a school record best start 16-0 with a 15-0 win in 5 innings. Lewis County falls to 5-7 on the season. Greenup plays @ Rowan on Thursday while Lewis takes the field again on Friday against Newport Central Catholic @ The Doc Morris Invitational.
