  1. Runs not points...biggest mistake in baseball. Just giving ya a hard time
  2. That very well may be true as you must know the program better than I do. I'm not saying they won't make a run I'm disagreeing when it comes to pitching your ace against the regional favorite this early in the season. Still yet, I'm hearing pitching, pitching, pitching, with the offesnive firepower GC has showed so far it's going to take runs and very solid defense behind these pitchers to pull off the upset. Greenup's defense will come around as it always does by as far as now pitching & hitting have been very good so far. Young arms & Postseason don't always mix either.
  3. 30 may be a bizarre number but Raceland threw the ball over 20 times in 9 out of 12 games last year. They threw the ball 30 times or more once or twice.
  4. I'm still up in the air about this hire, but i believe it has great potential. IMO I think going with a young coach might be the best route for GC. It worked with Mullins as he had time to adjust and build the program from the ground up as do it the way he wanted too, that eventually led him to a 6A job can't complain there. However, one thing that worries me is that GC goes a different route with this hire, Grizzle comes from a Spread-Air Raid offense that I simply don't see GC being very successful with at least not for a few years. The thing is with the history of GC football and all sports for that matter will he be given time to adjust the offense and get it where he wants it? Or does he adjust his gameplan and stay with some stuff Mullins had inserted? I believe that's the big question here because, I don't see a Qb on the roster that can throw it 30 times a game. However, there is some young Qb talent coming up I believe the kid I am thinking of will be a freshman this year so he would be a year or 2 away from providing a varsity impact.
  5. I honestly don't see why you would pitch planck against GC in a regular season game. To be honest its just another game, I don't want to say it's meaningless but they aren't district opponents so what are you accomplishing by letting a team like GC see your ace more then they have too? More times you see any pitcher the more prepared you are going to be down the road. A win over a high ranked team in the regular season is great but when it diminishes your chance of beating that same team in the post season I would be against throwing him. Not sure what West pitching situation was but they didn't throw Jordan vs GC and that 12-2 loss looks bad but GC is less prepared for Jordan then they could be now. I believe I am right that Jordan pitched the game before GC, if they were truly worried about having a chance to beat GC in regular season they would have gave him that day off and pitched him vs GC.
  6. When Gc played West Jordan did not pitch. Gc is by far the best TEAM in the region but as well know the playoff setup comes down to 1 game series. If a match up were to include Jordan for West Carter things could go different but I still see them prevailing. 16th Region will come down to how the bracket setups once it is laid out, WC & Rowan may have to burn an ace just to get to GC. Don't forget about EC & Boyd either, this is however GC's region to lose by a long shot.
  7. Greenup county moves to 12-0 on the season and 4-0 on the trip to Vero. Greenup will play again later tonight against East Granby, CT and finish up in Florida early in the morning against Mcdowell, PA according to KHSAA.
  8. I'm guessing a former russell player with strong ties to the program.
  9. Greenup moves to 3-0 on the season with a combined 2-hitter of Ashland. Errors lead ot a few runs in the win.
  10. In Gc's defense the talent level hasn't been there in some of the more recent years. However, last year & this year talent level was at the top of the region IMO and where did that get them? District runner up & out of the 1st round of region last year and then this year ranked by most as a top 2 or 3 region team out during the district semi's. Talent is there, whether the problem is Tackett or not coaching at GC has lacked for quite awhile now. Alot of people that complain about Tackett also complain about the lack of consistencey in recent years. I'm not a Tackett fan but I will at least give him props for sticking around a few years unlike all the others whether they were ran off or quit on there own. As far as the Kidwell situation i agree that he helped the team this year in some aspects but at the same time you cant have what i considered CO-Head Coaches...Kids can't respond to both and do what both want, this i think i hurt in the long run. Is kidwell the right option? IDK..Is Tackett the right option?? I think he has had enough time to prove himsself, regular season doesn't matter when the postseason rolls around. Where does GC go from here?? Honestly, IMO I'm not sure they would get any big time applicants like they imagine, due to the distraught of the basketball program. If Tackett is to leave, I think they need to set back and think long & hard about the direction the program needs to go before the job is just handed over to kidwell.
  11. Greenup was ice cold I'll agree. They also locked up Hughes and maybe even got in his head a little bit. Poor execution on offense hurt Greenup. Lack of preparation and lack of in game adjustments also played a huge part in the loss. Rebounding was horrible and post game defense wasn't far behind. Raceland controlled the game and tempo about 95% of the game. When GC found some scoring inside from Hubbert everything was better but quickly went away from it. I was impressed with Morris but also Nathanial Davidson played pretty well for the Rams. Time for GC to move on to baseball and maybe move on in the basketball front if you catch my drift.
  12. Greenup has lost more good coaches then most teams will ever have since Ward left. Cooksey had some very solid years at Fairview once leaving GC, Hicks left and went to Bath and put them on an upward trend and then I believe took Graves County to state. Fraley had off the court issues but still a very good coach with a winning record at multiple stops. Leach didn't fit a high school system but had spent time at KCU and lastly but not least Youngman was a solid coach. However, in those hires there were also the bad ones, Nickel and Tackett share that end. Nickel is actually surprisingly the Women's head coach at Shawnee State after leaving GC. However, when at GC his team was probably the most disappointing team they had, talent was thru the roof in 2011 but nothing to show for it except a high number of wins over some really bad teams, not too mention he ran 2 good players off the team during summer ball when he told them "he didn't need guards".
  13. Gage Hughes had 29 for Greenup and surpassed the 1,000 point mark as a sophomore.
  14. They were winning 22-21 at halftime. 2nd half adjustments, hot shooting, less turnovers, and a huge late 3rd-4th quarter run fueled the fire for greenup. Outcome very well could have changed some with the addition of 3 players but with what took place I'd say Greenup by 15 to 20 still.
  15. Throw in Gage Hughes from Greenup County as a top Sophomore well. Haven't seen Faulkener play yet but from hearing the media and reports on here it does seem he's the top dog as far as sophomores go.
  16. 26 point win is still decently impressive, i understand missing starters hurts but i still thought the game would be a little closer.

  18. Does anyone know who the all time points leader at Greenup County is and how many total points was it? Feel free too comment with your school's all time leader and total points.
  19. 8th Grade boys coach at McKell (Greenup County) looking too add a few games. Willing to do a home/away setup if interested in two games.
  20. Greenup County Mike Scott (UK & Wake Forest) Steve Scaggs (Ohio University) Zach Gillum (EKU) Saihou Jassey, attended Greenup but was deemed ineligible (Bradley University) Not sure of any others
  21. Don't sleep on greenup but i believe in the long run they will be to guard heavy to win region. Losing Jair would hurt any team, but really hurts greenup this year due to lack of size all around left over. Hubbert height wise is a big in this region but will play more of a guard/slasher role. Look for GC to play fast, run multiple guards, and press majority of games. If they remained conditioned enough it could be a solid year for them. If this year is any repeat of last years record people will be calling for Tacketts head so let's see if he can right the ship or not.
