The Ole Miss Rebels. Is it time for that to change?

How far do we go to obliterate any references to the South from the Civil War era.

I guess this guy is next then.

Mammy Two Shoes wants to know if she can take her apron off now too because Aunt Jemima was allowed to remove her bandana.

Didn't northern states have Colonels too with goatees, Van Dykes, etc.? EKU ditching Colonel mascot, I vote no.

No!

No.

EKU mascot is more of a 19th century Calvaryman. Ole Miss's Rebels is a little different, but heck as long as we have a pro team called the Redskins this stuff is nothing . :ohbrother:

I see no problem with any of it.

I don't see the issues as the same. Confederate Flag flying officially from the State Capitol is an endorsement of said flag and the organization it represents.

Dixie Heights?? That particular Colonel looks more like Hulk Hogan than the mascot I remember from the '80's.....

My thoughts also.

Ergo, you must be wrong.

I thought Ole Miss adopted a different kind of rebel?

Agreed, there is a difference between an official flag and a cartoon-drawn mascot.

Should Boyle Co. or Casey Co. change their mascots? Both are Rebels.

Boone County is also the Rebels. When I went to Thomas More College, we were the Rebels...now TMC's nickname is the Saints.
