Fascinating Stuff - Will the GOP Ever Make Inroads?

Featured Replies

Simple. Bengal was talking about politicians, who I may add have an approval rating close to the teens. The other was a blanket statement about a very large group of people, all minorities and all poor people, a 47% statement saying that all minorities and poor only want handouts and nothing else.
Other than handouts, what exactly have they gotten from their loyalty to the Democrat party ??

Don't tell someone on welfare to "get a job." Odds are they already are working. From the Wall Street Journal:

"... study found that 56% of federal and state dollars spent between 2009 and 2011 on welfare programs — including Medicaid, food stamps and the Earned Income Tax Credit — flowed to working families and individuals with jobs."

Still no answers to my question... Seems liberals would have a long list of talking points as to how they have advanced the plight of the poor and minorities through their leadership, or has it all been lip service to garner votes..

Why does government never shrink when Republicans control the White House?[/quote

You asked a question in response to my statement that has nothing to do with my line of thinking. How does creating jobs become a racial question?

To respond to misdirection of a question, some fear being called racists and have become political cowards, that is why many old Republicans and Dems need to be replaced.

^ I saw them. Too bad so many were before I was born.

The current Republican Party bears little resemblance to the party of Lincoln.

Republicans have no intention of cutting the size of government. All this GOP talk about streamlining government to make it more efficient, etc. is empty rhetoric. Republicans used to always talk about "running government like a business," but then Enron and the financial meltdown of '07-'08 put them on different talking points.

I rarely agree with you TTP but I do on this point...

Is it wrong that when I watched the Blackish episode about Blacks always being Democrats I kept picturing PP92 as the dad :lol2:

The simple answer to your question is this:

Democrats appear to be compassionate to the plight of blacks/minorities in America and they show it when it is time for campaigning for votes. Republicans do not appear to be as compassionate to the plight of blacks/minorities in America and they show it when it is time for campaigning for votes.

At this point I don't think there is ANYTHING a Republican could do that would get more than 20% of the African American vote. By putting an R after the politicians name, he/she has no chance no matter what he/she says or does. Republicans have been demonized that much by the media and other liberals/democrats. Frankly, the strategy has worked.

The sad thing is there are "tolerant" liberals whovreallybelieve all Republicans are evil racists.

That's really not all of the way true though. Believe it or not Rand Paul has made HUGE strides in reaching out to the black community simply by pointing out how the discrepancy in sentencing for crack cocaine and powder cocaine.

Getting more than 20% of the black vote can be done by republicans. They just have to care enough to try. Blacks aren't as stupid as some republicans think they are.

Very true. My father is in his 60s and believes a majority of republicans are racist.

Not at all. It is me in some ways and totally like my father and upbringing in politics through my family.

Nothing to do with being smart or stupid...just stating facts. Question (because I don't know the answer)...when was the last time a Republican presidential candidate got more than 20% of the vote? I am curious.
