He statistically the best QB until Favre, Manning and Elway reached the end of their careers, and is still top 5. And he wasn't the only great QB that didn't run much. Williams lost 4 1/2 years in the prime of his career to WWII. On Base Percentage Ted Williams - .482 (MLB Record) Ty Cobb - .433 Slugging Percentage Ted Williams - .634 Ty Cobb - .512 That said, Cobb is among the best of the best 482 OBP is just sick. No one will ever break that record.
