I could be WAY OUT IN LEFT FIELD here, but could it be they wanted to avoid HHS & CCH moving up to 5A? I've been confused about Dixie's "volunteering" to move down to 5A as well. Could district makeups also be a reason to move?

The KHSAA does not just allow schools to go wherever they please just for a challenge. There has to be a compelling reason for the request to move up or down.

Papa, I realize that but I'll bet (again total guess) Cooper and Conner had NO idea HHS & CCH would be in a rebuild of the magnatude they are in at the moment. Just tossing stuff at the wall.

Highlands would ask to play wherever CCH is playing. Plus, there would be a lot more travel involved playing 4A ball. It would be a different story if Cooper and Conner didn't move away.

The difference is Cooper hasn't done anything and Highlands dominated 4A.

That used to be true, but if I am not mistaken, prior to this last realignment the KHSAA allowed any team that wanted to move UP in class to do so without any justification. Then the option for the smallest school in the next class to move DOWN was offered and so on.

True. But KHSAA still had to "approve" the request.

I care! I feel bad for the kids knowing they could be playing 5A instead of 6A. But somebody decided against that.

 

Do you really? None of the kids are worrying about 5A vs 6A, they are focused on the season.
