Don't know who specifically made the request to play up for Cooper. Borchers made the proposal to the KHSAA for the 6A alignment.

And from looking at that proposal (we need a link to the Simon Kenton proposal too) it appears that two or more NKY 6A Football coaches colluded to avoid having to play Trinity, St. Xavier or Male until the football finals. See, the more we dig, the more we find out.

Someone from Cooper suggested the new tournament alignment? I thought that was the sole work of the KHSAA. Oh, how cunningly did the serpent conceal itself.

 

Now I'm wondering if Muhlenberg County was given the chance to move down or if they skipped directly to Fern Creek and Oldham County. After all for the new format to work they needed to reduce Louisville from 12 6A schools to 10.

Certainly what it looks like isn't it? Borchers expressed his "concern" for a Louisville school having to play a school from their own district in the first round but assuming the 6A NKY schools play each other during the season then they will be playing a team for the 2nd time in the playoffs. Of course with the way some 6A schools up there avoid playing other 6A schools in the regular season maybe that won't be a problem.
