April 22, 201511 yr You know that old saying when you talk about where Kentucky ranks next to last in something and you say thank God for Mississippi? I say thank God for the Brewers bullpen. They get to an 0-2 count on a batter and then hit him with a pitch. My goodness. I feel like I am watching a ball game at Rumpke Park. (For the out of towners, that is a ballpark complex in Cincinnati where they hold a huge softball tournament.) Edited April 22, 201511 yr by Voice of Reason
April 22, 201511 yr I agree that Marquis shouldn't be in the rotation but he could maybe help out in the pen. His stuff isn't terrible as evidenced by his strike out totals this year. He's been touching 90 and his fastball has great comeback action to it. I'd rather not have him in the rotation or the pen but sadly he's probably better than Kevin Gregg right now. Plus he can handle the bat.
April 22, 201511 yr #FreeSamLeCure I like Lecure, but he's not the answer either. With that said, he can't be much worse than what we're trottin' out there now.
April 22, 201511 yr Kevin Gregg on the mound. :scared: GREGG STRIKEOUT!!!! :taz: Gregg drops toss from Votto after JV makes a great stop. :arghh::ohbrother: ANOTHER GREGG STRIKEOUT!!!! :taz: Fly out to Bruce to end the inning. Who was that masked man? :jimlad:
April 22, 201511 yr #FreeSamLeCure LeCure is no better than what they have in the pen now. There's a reason that EVERY team in the big leagues passed on him when he was DFA'd. Anyone could have had him for $1.85 million for the season. None of them wanted him. He's throwing 85 mph in Louisville.
April 22, 201511 yr Plus he can handle the bat. I was going to mention that as well. He would have added value as a pinch hitter in an extra inning game. When he keeps the ball down in the zone he can be pretty effective which I know that's easier said than done. Might add a tick more in velocity out of the pen as well. Out of the bullpen I could see him being very similar to the Sam LeCure of a few years back before he developed dead arm syndrome.
April 22, 201511 yr LeCure is not the answer to the bullpen this year. Another guy who is not the answer is Holmberg who gave up like 12 hits and 10 runs in a couple innings of work tonight. The only answers right now in house are Iglesias and Lorenzen with Howard being more of a dark horse option. Then there's a second tier of guys that might be able to help in Contreras, Villareal, Rogers, Klimesh and Hayes.
