I've heard that Tony Hentz is now on the golf team and not playing football this year.

Looking great so far I am sure it will be sweet when completely finished. I understand the ground work was also laid for lights to be put up before the 2016 season. That field on that campus with the crazy fans under lights on a friday night will be a beautiful sight. Congrats to the young men of CovCath!

The raceways for the lighting was actually installed when the initial field surface was installed. As far as I know of, they haven't done anything additional in the way of conduits and raceways.

Something that just occurred to me looking at this picture...the subbase beneath the turf is a grayish-tan color rather than the original black (shredded tire rubber). That's a nice change. Should help a bit with the heat retained in the field surface, and the on-field temperatures.

The sub base for these fields are typically crushed/washed limestone. If CCH had shredded tires as their field base before, that may explain a lot.

Interesting...I didn't know the industry had moved to crushed limestone. Before I got into federal contracting with my current job, I did GC work with a commercial outfit. I build 4 stadiums (as recent as 2012) and all 4 had shredded tires for their subbase. I'm about 99% positive that that was the case with the subbase at Wooten Field as well.

It was called "Infill" not Sub Base as you call it. But if you call something else then it's cool! Must be a Park Hills "Thingy"...

Something tells me that your field temps won't vary much. Because it will contain some sort of Rubber Infill!

I'm the last guy to say he is an expert on anything construction related so.....

 

Am I correct the sub-base is below the turf? I ask because I know that most if not all turfs use cut up tire ON the turf between the "blades." Every turf I've seen has tire fly up in the air during a game.

100 yards of the field is complete. Endzones are the next to be put in. Soccer lines will not be added except for the out of bounds lines. This is an NFL funded project therefore will be a true Football field. No extra junk in the middle. The new logo will be added once sidelines are put down. I'm told 1 week left.

 

Is a football field that the soccer team is ALLOWED to use or is it a field that both teams get to use? I don't see how you can not put down the required soccer lines.

I was told that it is a football field. Cov Cath had to ask for the out of bound lines for soccer and that's all they could get. Hearing that some Soccer parents and players are NOT happy. I could be wrong on the lines but what I gathered the other night from a friend is that this is Football use mainly.
