I could have heard wrong or the person talking may have been misinformed. It was on talk radio but I can't remember who it was talking. A guest on a show. Heard it yesterday.

 

I'd possible but I doubt he goes that high. He's a lock to go in the top 10.

And to Webber's point, all Willie is going to have to do is score off of rim runs, I assume not a lot of back to the basket work is going to be asked of him. Also, if he continues to improve his jump shot make those at maybe a 40-35% clip and he will be valuable in the league because of his defense.

If this UK team wins the national title, they will indeed be one of the greatest TEAMS ever. They have a few NBA guys but really only one guy that projects to be a star on the next level. The only reason Mike and Mike had him on this morning is because they already knew his negative feelings toward UK and were looking to incite a reaction from the irrational part UK's fan base (which is pretty smart of the production team as ratings will certainly increase).

 

If Tim Duncan had said this I'd put major stock into it as he is a winner. I'm not sure if there has ever been an athlete who choked more Kings/UM than Webber and it's easy to understand where the bitterness comes from.

WCS defense will help him stick around long enough that he could develop a much better offensive game. Particularly if he gets one on one with a coach.

If Webber was the first person to say this then I could see all the Webber hate that we'll be seeing in the near future. He's definitely not alone in these sentiments. He was just on the right show with the right people to get his opinion out there. Jemele Hill has been saying this for weeks now on His and Hers.

If Webber had said WCS was going to be a fine pro and that he really liked how he played...NO ONE would be talking about Chris Webber this week...just saying.

The strength of this UK team is their depth. That's what sets them apart and I think that when things are all said and done, they go down much like the '96 team did.

 

Ton of guys on the roster who eventually played in the pros, a few All-Star appearances, all that, but no one guy who is a dominant force in the way that Davis, Wall, or Cousins is. Maybe that's Towns, but at the same time, I think he has a way to go to be there as well.

 

Like '96, this group just comes at you in so many waves that they wind up just outlasting you if nothing else. Teams aren't supposed to be this full of talent that plays so well together.

 

I compare this team to '96 more than '12 too because in '12, Davis was just a force of nature, where we really don't have the same kind of one-man show this season (and I know in '12 we had Jones and MKG, who have also lasted in the NBA, as well as Teague and Lamb, who had some time in the league).

 

However, I look at '15 as one with more guys who'll be in the league for awhile, and who will carve out a career that spans the better part of a decade (as opposed to Lamb, Teague, Miller). As a collection, I see more similarities from this group to the pro accomplishments of the Walker, Delk, Mercer, Anderson, Pope, McCarty, Mohammed (raw Fr). What I mean by that is a group with talent across the board, but no real game-changers who have "definite franchise cornerstone" written all over them, but some talented players who'll make an NBA living, and just out of the sheer volume of them, there'll be somewhat of a mixed bag on their success (some of which they might not really be able to control, i.e., being drafted by a well run vs. horrible franchise).

Pretty sure K.Faried has carved himself out a nice little offensively challenged niche in the league. Why wouldn't anyone think WCS could do the same? Maybe CWebb has some defensive envy. Cause he was all O.

I was reading an article on Grantland recently which felt WCS would be able to develop more of an offensive repertoire at the NBA level, kind of like Towns. They feel he could have a decent mid-range type game. I will believe it when I see it, though we have seen Willie take a few jumpers this season. I still stick with my contention he is not a good basketball player, just a supreme athlete that plays basketball.

Don't get me wrong, I think Towns will be an All-Star caliber guy. I just see Lyles and Booker's games translating really well. Booker is going to be a high volume scorer.

Willie Cauley-Stein will be a very good pro. He will not be counted on to score in the post, most teams don't even try to do that with centers now a days anyway. He can defend at a high level, and will become a force in the pick and roll if he gets with a good PG. He is not a back to the basket player and that is fine. As mentioned Chandler, Jordan, etc. do not do that either and are fine.

 

I like the Noah comparison, but I don't think Willie has the all around offensive game that Noah has. Noah is probably the best passing big in the league in the half-court. Put Willie in a defensive system like what Chicago or Miami has used in the past and he will be very good.

 

Towns, WCS, Booker and Lyles will all be good pros. If Ulis was 6 feet, he might be the best pro of the bunch, but he's small. He's the best pure PG that's been out in a long time IMO, just small. Put him in either Harrison's body and he'd be the #1 pick or in the running. JMO.

^Speaking of Ulis, I saw about a month or so ago that Chad Ford said NBA scouts were in love with Ulis' game, but they almost all agreed he'd return to Kentucky. His comments seemed to imply that scouts saw Ulis as a potential 1st round pick this season.

I can t really disagree with the fact that I cant even remember WCS ever shooting jump shots. I thought all he did was get lobs and dunk it.
