I think people who are judging WCS are looking at him the wrong way. WCS isn't an offensive threat and won't be at the next level. The reason WCS is so highly touted is because of his defense. He can guard away from the basket and is quick enough to get to the post when needed.

 

This entire topic just shows me C Weber has no idea what WCS' strenghts are and why he made All American.

Any UK fan that is upset about this should be ashamed. We all heard how intelligent Webber was while he was calling the UK games in Clevland. Chris Webber was a GREAT basketball player but that does not mean he knows basketball. He played at a high level but was never a real cerebral player. He played on talent.

 

I will take the opinions of 38 opponents, other coaches, and individuals like Jay Bilas over Webber's any day of the week.

I agree. WCS is offensively challenged.

 

The player I think of in college to compare to WCS is Joakim Noah. Noah still can't shoot but he is a very good pro player.

I can t really disagree with the fact that I cant even remember WCS ever shooting jump shots. I thought all he did was get lobs and dunk it.

Absolutely. IF Willie didnt play for UK he would be one of those guys I root for. Love the lock down D he plays and how he does it. I do respect him as a player but since his jersey says UK on it, its tough. That being said, when he does hit the NBA he will be a player I pay attention to.

Pretty sure K.Faried has carved himself out a nice little offensively challenged niche in the league. Why wouldn't anyone think WCS could do the same? Maybe CWebb has some defensive envy. Cause he was all O.

 

To be fair to Webber, injuries robbed him of a lot of what made his game great, and he still evolved as a passer and jump shooter. Between some tough franchises early and the injuries, he still made a nice career for himself, and WCS will be very lucky if he even sniffs some of his accomplishments.

His concerns about Willie's offensive game are legit.

Legit indeed. I enjoy watching his athleticism but he is a brick-laying All-American. I cringe when he or Dakari attempts to shoot from 2 ft or more from the basket. Willie is better than Dakari at least. For the most part,if they ain't dunking, they ain't scoring.
