I can absolutely see it. In the most basic, simple form, when you buy a movie ticket or a cd, you are supporting that artist financially. Now if one person doesn't spend their money, then that $9.00 for a movie ticket or $20.00 for a cd doesn't mean much at all. If 3 or 4 million do the same though, then it make a big difference.

 

Now, personally I don't normally let a difference in political philosophies keep me from buying something. However, there is a point in which I will get a little feed up and say enough is enough and not buy a product. Someone mentioned Sean Penn...perfect example. I'm not going to go see a Sean Penn movie because he is absolutely inseparable from his illogical left wing communists politics. And he's just so unlikeable to boot. I WILL, however, watch reruns of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" time after time, being one of my favorites.:thumb:

Which is why there are a LOT of people who can't stand the owner of Rick's White Light Dinner in downtown Frankfort. Food is good, but you get a huge dose of far left wing political rants with your oyster po'boy too, if you want it or not. Some people think it's funny. Some just shake their head and let it roll of their back (me)...others just can't stand the guy and wouldn't go in there if the food was free. And it's good food.

I'm with Doc here 100%. Shut your mouth unless it's to speak your lines or sing your song and do what I and millions of others paid you to do...entertain me. If one wants to spout off their political views, do so on a political talk show or quit making movies/albums and run for office.

I guess I'm just a different sort of person. I don't choose my dentist or doctor based upon their political views, nor do I avoid any because I know their political views. If I want to be entertained, I will choose to see the movie or entertainer regardless of their politics, even if they tell me about them.

 

Oh...and I'd eat a good oyster po' boy even if there were guns hanging on racks behind the counter.

He picked on me relentlessly. He thinks it's all "good natured" and funny. And it didn't bother me...I just marked him down as a crazy old former hippy left wing kook that is a heck of a cook, and I let the food over ride his political opinions. But be prepared. If you go in and he marks you as a conservative, watch out, you will get it with both barrels.

Been there once....was warned not to let him know if you lean conservative. I would have to be in a certain mood to want to get into those discussion, and I don't like the plan of getting the person preparing my food angry.

 

I think the mistake that Natalie Main makes is that as a country performer, your fans generally represent a certain set of values...patriotic, beer-drinking, whatever..not that they are all good values...and she blatantly betrayed those values without regard to her fans.

You don't have to worry about it there, that's for sure. I've never had the po'boy there myself, have wanted to try it...makes the bread in house and everything, I hear it's the bomb.

 

Now, if the guy made movies, I probably wouldn't go see them...but we talking food here. The guy would have to be miles left of Castro before I would think about passing up good food.
