The cynic in me says that if George Strait was in England and made a critical remark about President Obama that the "backlash" would be milder.

Not that I buy a whole lot of music anymore, but I will still listen to the one or two songs I have on my ipod from the chicks. Liked the music, just not a huge country fan. Great voices and harmony.

I was a huge fan of Springsteen but never liked his political views. When ever he opened his mouth at a concert, it was time for me to take a trip to the boys room.

 

Point being, I still will listen to the music but will only buy into their product based upon how much I really like the music.

So, once they're part of the entertainment machinery they are no longer allowed to be human beings and have an opinion on what goes on in the world around them? That seems silly to me.

Your point is valid but it doesn't mean that they did not suffer (relatively) because of their remarks. They lost a lot of earnings due to the reactions of fans.
