Natalie Maines Is Still Not Ready to Make Nice

I remember being in agreement with Natalie when she made her statement.

Didn't know you were from Texas too :lol2:

You were one of the few Dems thinking that way I guess, they almost universally supported going to Iraq in congress. The old Clinton regime talking heads were on every news channel they could get on saying that they too knew there were WMD's in Iraq. It was only in hindsight for political reasons that they then were against it a few years later.

I'm not a Democrat. And I'm not a talking head. I was against going onto Iraq from the get-go. There are some epic threads from back in the day. Feel free to dig them up. :D

Didn't know BGP went back to 2002, may have to look them up.

PS you may not "register" as a DEM for whatever reason, but your as Dem as anyone I've ever seen.

Also, my join date is in '02. BGP pre-dates the rockmom entrance.

I was born in Houston.

I bash Palin because she's one fry short of a Happy Meal.

I bash Obama because he an egotistical narcissist with socialist leanings. I think he's every bit as much a loon to the left as Palin is a loon to the right. It has nothing to do with his race and yet I've been directly and indirectly accused of racism because of my views. Is everyone that holds your views about Pailn a misogynist?

Personally, I don't follow any performer who uses their platform to push their political views or agenda. So, I'm not a fan of standing in front of the mic and spewing your political slant, regardless if it jibes with mine or not. Just perform, because you're a perfomer. I'll read or watch something else if I want a political diatribe. And to be honest, I liked some of their stuff before all of the fallout. I'm all for equality and rights and even enjoy music and movies along that line, but keep your politics to yourself. If we want to know your views, we will ask. If I go to my accountant, I don't want to know his/her stance on the war in Iraq. If I go get my car worked on, I don't want to know how the mechanic feels about the president. If I ask, that's different.

If I want a political opinion, I'll go to this site, under the proper forum, and read.

And one more thing, I forgot about her. I couldn't have told you before I opened this thread who the frig she was. Maybe she needs a root canal.

I was never a fan of the Dixie Chicks before this lady said what she said.

Overall, I'm not a fan of celebrities telling us their political views. They're free to do so, but I'd prefer they just do their thing.

I don't want to see Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair in front of the world. Just direct movies.

Or shoot people.

So if a performer you like said something you disagree with politically you would quit buying their stuff?

I don't have to agree or disagree with them politically to ignore them. I don't mind if you're making a statement in your music (see Chuck D) or in a film that was slanted that way. I chose to listen or watch those. But I don't want to hear their political slant when you have a captivated audience like she had. Like Randy said, I don't want to hear what Eastwood says. If I go to a concert, I want to hear you play or sing. I don't want to know your take on Benghazi.

Celebrities making political statements were a dime a dozen during the '60s.
