I agree with Calhoun's comments, except the comment that this is not a great UK team - and that is the comment that caused the backlash. That comment is borderline ignorant. I agree the 2012 team is better than this one. I think Okafor is ahead of Towns - a much more polished offensive game.

You have to hear the whole interview to hear the context of those words. He said they aren't a great team compared to teams that he thinks are great teams of the past and then he expounded for a good while on it.

Anyone have a link to the full interview? I didn't hear it just that it came across facebook earlier when I was on.

I have strongly believed that, at least in recent years, Connecticut has given UK fans MUCH more to gripe about than Duke.

I don't think what he said is that big of a deal. 2012 was a better team. Calhoun thinks one of his championship teams was better. Later in the interview he talks about the game suffering from so many players leaving after one year. So part of his "not a great team" comment is based in his belief that the game has been hurt by players leaving early.

 

He did say UK is clearly the best team.

 

Thinks Okafor will be a better pro than Towns. He was very complimentary of Towns later in the interview. He did say it's dangerous to try to project pros based on one year of college.

 

But, hey, we need to keep getting upset as UK fans about something so....

Calhoun and Calapari do not get along, to say the least. I think that goes way back to when Cal was at UMass and tried to get UConn to ply him and Calhoun would have none of it. Calapari even went on and on about it, called them out. ESPN of course had to chime in then it was all over the country that "UConn didn't want UMass, were scared .....etc., etc ..

That's my take on it anyway. Also, there are a lot of people that dislike U.K. ...I am fine with that, rather enjoy it. :lol2:

First of all Jones has never pretended NOT to be biased...says straight up that he is a UK Homer. Shocking that people think he should be otherwise...at least he's honest about it. Many "Reporters" are just as biased but refuse to admit it.

 

Secondly, what did Jones say that was wrong? He didn't even post the story on his web site, some one else did. But even then, many times we only see the highlights posted from an interview. Everyone is responsible for looking deeper if they want the entire story.
