March 12, 201511 yr Even if KAT is not dominant, he will be a serviceable center who will be in the NBA for years. With guys like Okafor, he's either a star or bust. KAT is safer pick actually.

Philly would be the only team that might think of him at 1, but if they got the first pick then I bet they would trade down, but still in the top 4, with a team that wanted a big and then take either Russell or Mudiay based on who fell to them.

He has it in the bag of tricks, but hasn't been asked to use it. At least yet...

He missed every attempt he had in the Bahamas, Big Blue Madness, and the Blue & White game from what I remember.

What Duke's poor perimeter D did expose is that Okafor has little to no impact as a rim protector. The one thing slow guards can do is funnel a superior driver into a shot blocker. If the Duke giards can't do that, it says more about Okafor than it does Jones and Cook. Thing is I don't have much confidence in Towns blocking shots at a high rate in the NBA. Okafor? LOL...

That's cool, I'm just saying that if you put Okafor in Town's situation defensively, then he looks a lot better. If you put Towns in Okafor's, I'm not sure he looks any better. He's asked to do more, play more minutes, all that. Yes, his numbers would jump from more minutes, but you probably see more holes in his game exposed as well. Okafor isn't a rim protector, but at the spot he's drafted, his franchise probably finds one to play with him if that's what the team needs badly enough. Okafor can still keep other posts from getting deep position because he's so massive. Nothing stopping him from relatively holding his own in a one on one situation down on the blocks in the NBA, at least to the extent he'll eventually be asked to. Rim protectors in the NBA are easier to find than guys who are Okafor's size with those kinds of feet and scoring ability.
