The bottom line is that not today’s game, you can’t score in 40s in win a game like this. When’s the last time I state champion won in the 40 pt. Range? No disrespect to coach but that’s not the game any more get out and run and let it fly!

What was final?

Is both teams struggling to put the ball in the hoop? Or both defenses playing lights out? With a slow game I don’t see highlands as the winner, they need to amp it up!

The Walter thing is a whole nether discussion, I don’t believe they utilize him the right way. Coach Ruth has always been a guard coach so they never really run sets from him! Mark my words coach Mack will have him toned up and a threat his jr sr season in a top program in d1. Just keep your head up big fella and get ready for a life change at the next level.

Attended tonight’s game! First thing with being a coach in 9th is thank you to both programs! As they put on a nether great show from sportsmanship to hustle and all the way to showing all the youngsters in the gym how the game is played and coached! Second thing is the outcoached thing is ludacris. I believe both coaches made great adjustments and weathered each run, which made it a 4 point victory. Could be wrong but I believe the biggest lead was 8 points by Cov cath late in 4th. Never got to double digits by any team. As far team for team I believe Cov Cath is the better all around team they have 4 players that can have a game when need be. Also their overall size is a match up nightmare! Last but not least is players will always be compared, that is just the way the Game is built that’s why there is poy, mvp, and ect. My personal opinion goes to ak again no knock on cj but his all around game defending and getting to the rim and his acrobatic finishes I give him the slight advantage. With that being said I believe if you take cj and put him on cooper where more would be expected night in night out I might compare otherwise! But thank you again to both programs good luck Cov Cath also good luck to cooper to take this game and grow from it.

Wasn’t able to attend tonight’s game decided to watch the X game instead! But I’m listening to the HC radio, and it’s awesome I really appreciate them. Wow though they made it sound like Newport got away with murder. Also they said Newport got away with 3 travels in one possession and 100 travels in first half. Please just announce the game do not ref it this whole game!

Going to be a good one! Ncc keep putting pressure on Newport they could pull it off!

Who is controlling the tempo in this game? Also what are the stars doing, b. Hall (ncc) m. Burries (Newport)? Anybody else standing out?

Not complaining, just saying that it sucks for the people in this district! When you host at these locations you limit the fans from coming. Also think about for the kids playing in it would be nice to allow a gym full for a electric atmosphere! The TMC idea is not bad but is not convienent for any of these schools. So then you wouldn’t get fans to travel out there to watch! I believe the best 2 gyms are Newport and Dayton, also both located right in the middle and would allow full potentional for such a competitive district!

It sucks the gym is so tiny, wanted to attend tonight’s game but the line was awful! This district should never host at highlands or Bellevue! They should still rotate the host but when it comes to them two they use someone else’s facility and collect the profits.

Maybe a nether case of running it up after a tough loss? Just saying! Not a good look for ncc and coaching staff!

Final from Dayton. The Geendevils controlled this one from start to finish, never trailing the entire game. Defense was excellent and held a very good shooting/scoring team to 14 in the first half and 44 for the game. Another balanced scoring effort for the Devils. Unofficial stats: Devin Bright 19 points 6 rebounds Draven Garcia 13 points 10 rebounds 5 assists and 2 blocks Phillip McDaniel 13 points (held their leading scorer to 3 points) Adrian Hall 10 points The Raiders were led by Dakota Wathan with 12 points and Eric Howard with 11. Tough shooting night for the Raiders as they had several shots rattle out on them. Very impressed with their defensive effort and communication, they seem like a very well coached group. Trinity (Whitesville) won both freshman and JV games. They will stay in Northen Ky to play Beechwood and Silver Grove over the next 2 days. Dayton will travel to Newport on January 4th for a tough district game.

It's awesome that every thread that even mentions someone connected to NCC stays alive weeks after the game. This one is so deceiving because you see all the comments and think "man people must be talking about how good of a game that was or the kids that played it" and instead you see peopled talking about refs who don't even officiate games anymore. Classic lol

GreenDevils improve to 6-3 on the season against the Black Devils. Robertson was led by Mason Burden with 20 points. Dayton had balanced scoring with the following stats: Devin Bright 14 points 6 rebounds 3 blocks Adrian Hall 14 points 5 steals Sam Brewer 8 points 9 assists Phillip McDaniel 8 points 6 assists 7 steals Seth Chinn 8 points 6 rebounds Draven Garcia 8 points 2 blocks Freshman Jonathan Jimenez scored his first varsity points for Dayton and finished with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 1 charge taken (should've been 2). After trailing by 21 points in the first half, Robertson Co went on an outstanding run at the end of the second quarter to to cut the lead to 4 points at the half, 35-31. The second half was controlled by Dayton as they built the lead back up to double digits rather quickly and that's where it stayed the rest of the game. Dayton shared the ball well and ended with 21 assists on the night. Robertson Co shot 25 free throws as opposed to just 4 for Dayton. Both teams are back in action tomorrow in day 3 of the Swauger Classic.

So were you there or are you just assuming you know how the game went same as I am? I understand that was a strong call out and I stick by my original statement/opinion. I have been a part of enough running clock games to understand how they work. I'll do some research and see how many points they scored in the first half because to me all bets are off in first half, press, fast break, run the score up all you want in the first half and I am ok with it. When the second half starts and it is a running clock then their are liberties you just don't take with the other team. If it turns out they scored 60 in the first half I will eat my crow and apologize to the Beth Haven coach. And let me clarify, if the score was run up then that fault lies with the coach and not the players. I would never fault players for playing hard and doing their best to score up until the final buzzer. I don't think you were at the game either and not really sure what your point is of stirring the pot here. I made a strong opinionated post that I was fully prepared to back up. This is something I feel strongly about and will stand by what I said. High school sports are about building character in young men and no one builds any good character by kicking someone when they are down. Playing with discipline and class teaches young men more than piling on ever will. Please tell me what you think either side learned from this game and experience?

Final from Dayton. Dayton won JV also. The GreenDevils had another night of balanced scoring led by Senior Devin Bright's 14 points. Seth Chinn 7 points 3 rebounds 4-4 from the free throw line Villa was led by Schutzman with 27 points. He is a very nice player who had defenders hounding him all night yet still found a way to get his shot off. He is absolutely deadly from the free throw line extended. Dayton improves to 5-2 on the season after their 3rd straight victory. They head down to Bellevue Monday at 6 to take on Brossart in the Mike Swauger Classic.

I wasn't there so I am not sure if they pressed, ran fast breaks and shot 3's while the clock was running, but I would suggest working the ball around playing hard defense and making sure every shot is a layup (not fast break) once you're up enough to for the running clock. I'm just not sure what any team can learn by piling on points when it's obvious you are the far superior team. Do you think that the final score happened by accident?

Take this for what it's worth, but I know that the previous 5 losses Dayton had to Bellevue did not produce the kind of "scene" that tonight did. i believe there was only 1 technical on a Dayton player in those 5 games combined and none of the players ever had to be restrained during the hand shake line. I'm not saying that either team is completely innocent in any of the chippiness (if that is a word), but seems a little too coincidental that it went THAT bad when the teams were on opposite ends of the score.

I hope that Calvary absolutely demolishes Beth Haven after what they did to Heritage last Saturday night. There is absolutely no justifying beating a team 78-9 with the running clock rules in this state. I will be rooting heavy for the Cougars in that one. Also, congrats to Calvary and Coach Neises on their early season success!

Technicals on the Bellevue players were on #3, #15 and #50. I am not sure if a coach got one or not. A couple of their players also had to be restrained by coaches when going through the line to shake hands as well, not really sure what that was about. Kudos to the Dayton players for keeping their heads in a hostile environment like that on the road. They did get baited into some silly fouls, but no technicals for any of the players or staff. After losing at least 8 in a row to Bellevue, it looks like Dayton finally renewed one of the best rivalries in the state. Because we all know it's only a rivalry if both teams win occasionally.

Final from Dayton. Junior Adrian Hall led the way with 20 points and may have been close to a triple double with rebounds and steals. Sophomore Seth Chinn hit double digits for the first time in his career with 11. Junior Buddy Lukens and Freshman Mikey Marksberry both scored their first varsity points of their career with 6 and 5 respectively. The bench mob for Dayton was fun to watch as well. Looked like they were having a lot of fun cheering on the success of their teammates.
