March 6, 201511 yr Taking away 135 wins from Kentucky's basketball program would definitely mean something to Kentucky fans. Probably not as much to Syracuse fans. Yeah it would, but Syracuse is supposed to have their best team in years NEXT season. IMO that's why they sold this team out, hoping next years would be left alone...which it appears to have been.
March 6, 201511 yr I think the loss of the 12 scholarships over the next 4 years will hurt more than anything else. 3 scholarships per year is huge in basketball.

Melo was sitting at home furiously texting Boeheim, like, "they gonna take away my only title? It's the only one I'll ever get errrr only one I have so far. March 6, 201511 yr ESPN people are saying if this is Syracuse penalty then North Carolina should get nailed. Interesting Doubtful, this is UNC's punishment. Or reward, depending on how you wanna look at it. Just a little redirection from the NCAA to take some of the attention away from UNC.

I don't think it is possible. The NCAA HAS to come down hard on UNC. If I read things correctly this was a 10 year investigation so while we await to see what happens to UNC I don't feel like because the NCAA hasn't done anything to UNC yet doesn't mean that they won't. I think they may stun us all with UNC's punishment. One way or another.
March 6, 201511 yr Listening to Jay Bilas and Jeff Goodman about this punishment neither think it's that bad. Schools like Georgetown function on 10 scholarship players every year apparently. They just can't miss on many if any recruits. The window for error is much smaller.

March 7, 201511 yr Just in, North Carolina gets punished by the NCAA, every player now gets an F for that fake class. There, are you all happy now, that really hurt a few GPAs.
March 7, 201511 yr I know this is a Syracuse thread, but..... if North Carolina had players earning grades through fraudulent classes (evidently for many years) wouldn't that mean they were playing ineligible players, as well as said players earning false degrees. McCants, who played on one of their national championship teams, has stated that he made the Dean's List one semester and didn't attend a single class. He said he didn't even know the names of most of the classes he was signed up to take. IMO, that's just as wrong as a fake ACT score, particularly if the university was aware of it, and they had to be unless they are related to the Ostrich and have their heads in the sand. I don't understand what has taken the NCAA so long to address this issue!

I don't think it would ever do that though. I was just wondering if the NCAA could have been waiting for Coach Smith to pass before dealing out any punishment. Just curious because didn't these alleged violations started while he was coaching. Just a thought.
March 7, 201511 yr Announcers said that Jim Boeheim said yesterday that Syracuse was going through some major changes this offseason and he wasn't for sure who would be coming back
