March 6, 201511 yr NCAA Penalizes Syracuse, Suspends Boeheim "Syracuse's penalties also include a five-year probation and for the school to vacate all wins in which ineligible men's basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07." Ouch...
March 6, 201511 yr ESPN people are saying if this is Syracuse penalty then North Carolina should get nailed. Interesting
March 6, 201511 yr The NCAA is still consistent in the fact that the NCAA never seems to do anything to a team in a year they won a title. Also as someone else mentioned if this is what Syracuse got, then North Carolina should have a huge punishment coming if the NCAA ever does its job when it comes to North Carolina and its situation.
March 6, 201511 yr No school wants to be punished from the NCAA for things like this and that are this extent. Do they get rid of Boheim now?
March 6, 201511 yr That's 135 wins down the drain for Boeheim. Now 170 shy of 1,000. That may be the most painful part of the penalty for Boeheim.

March 6, 201511 yr Author ESPN's Brett McMurphy just tweeted this gem: @McMurphyESPN: To paraphrase Tark: "The NCAA is so made at Kentucky it's going to suspend Jim Boeheim another ACC game." Umm, what? I don't think he fully grasps the intent of the original comment. :idunno:
March 6, 201511 yr But they still get to play in next years post season? All of this punishment and Syracuse won't care a bit as long as their best recruiting class in years is allowed to play in next seasons post season tourneys. These are meaningless. Should have said no post season NEXT year and given every player an opportunity to transfer or be released from their LOI. This in the grand scope is nothing, IMO.

Taking away 135 wins from Kentucky's basketball program would definitely mean something to Kentucky fans. Probably not as much to Syracuse fans.
