UK band couldn't make it to the women's SEC tourney due to the weather so the Ole Miss band is learning the UK fight song.

Picture.

Plenty of good seats available.

Odd they're having it in Arkansas. Seems out of the way for most of the SEC's "money" programs. I'm guessing there horrible weather didn't help the crowds either.

Really common, actually. Several times A10 schools would "rent" Philly school bands when they didn't want to pay to ship them there. Some would rent a local high school band. Expensive to bus, board, and feed about 40 kids and their coach and administrator.

Hats off to the Rebels.

The USF band did it for a couple of schools at the Big East tournament a few years ago.

The Herd of Thunder has to learn every conference opponent's fight song anyway. Before every home football game, they play the opponent's fight song for their fans. A lot of schools do that, too. I remember being on campus season before last before the Louisville game and I heard the UofL fight song drifting from the band practice field. Kind of strange.

It was hard, had to skip work yesterday and hijack a plane. Thankfully I made it home and ditched the plane before my wife noticed.

Yes, especially with WBB, but occasionally with MBB as I referenced with the A10 when the Tourney was in Atlantic City for years. Schools just can't afford to bus their band a long way, especially when a bad team is likely to only be playing 1 game. SLU used a big Philly high school a couple of times, UMASS used La Salle, things like that. In WBB it is often the norm, but done under the guise of "well...they'll be leaving with the men next week...so...we'll just get a local band". Truth: they don't way to pay to bus them 1,000 miles with meals and lodging to play in front of one game and about 300 people.
