10th Region POY and COY Predictions

Featured Replies

Thank you. Coming from a staunch supporter of the county team to the immediate west, much appreciated.

Many of my Bracken County friends would like nothing better than to see Mason County to lose every game in every sport they play, and they're not shy about telling me so. Big fish in a little pond (39th District) and all that.

And when you get right down to it, Mason County is a medium-sized fish in the 10th Region watershed. I like to see the Royals succeed, but like to think that I give proper credit and respect where it's due.:thumb:

Of course, there are some on here that think that I'm ful...

...never mind. We plowed that ground a few days ago.

This from another thread. Congrats to Dorian Henery for winning the 10th region player.

2015 Regional KABC Players of the Year

Carson Williams did not win KABC 8th Region Player of the Year.

Hayden Hawes of Oldham County did.

Just to clarify, like I seem to do every year at this time, to be eligible to win KABC Regional Player of the Year you must meet the following criteria.

1. Be a Senior

2. At least one of your coaches, head or assistant, must be a member of the KABC.

Here are this years winners.

Region 1 - Parker Adams - Calloway County

Region 2 - David Simmons - Henderson County

Region 3 - Aric Holman - Owensboro

Region 4 - Dillon Geralds - Monroe County

Region 5 - Eljay Cowherd - Bardstown

Region 6 - Dujuanta Weaver - Doss

Region 7 - Dwayne Sutton - Manual

Raymond Spaulding - Trinity

Jalen Perry - Ballard

Region 8 - Hayden Hawes - Oldham County

Region 9 - James Bolden - Holmes

Drew McDonald - Newport Central Catholic

Region 10 - Dorian Henry - Mason County

Region 11 - Matt Rose - Lexington Christian Academy

Region 12 - Hagen Tyler - Boyle County

Region 13 - Skyler Griffith - Williamsburg

Region 14 - Cameron Justice - Knott County Central

Region 15 - Kyle Gullett - Johnson Central

Region 16 - Ryne Callahan - Rowan County

Once again this is a senior award. Congrats to all winners who are deserving. All KABC Players of the Year and Runner Up Players of the Year are invited to play in the KABC East/West All Star Game which takes place the weekend of the state tournament at Transy.

3 in the 7th and 2 in the 9th?

According to the other thread, a 3-way tie and a two-way tie.

Too many good players to go around, I guess.

I don't see how you couldn't give POY to the kid that's leading the state in FG percentage. But that's just me and my small peanut brain. :)

I think it is very likely the kid leading the state in FG% often isn't going to be a region player of the year. In fact, if you look back over the last several years, I would say much more often than not that the leader in that category doesn't win (or deserve) region POY. Last year the top 2 in the state weren't even the best players on their respective teams.

I'm not saying Henry shouldn't be POY (I think he definitely should). Just think you're putting a little too much importance on one stat.

Just for the record I consider myself a supporter of the independent team to the immediate west as well.:thumb:

Now that is a rarity, although I feel equally about BC and MC of course after my beloved Panthers. Most people in BC though do not fall into that category unfortunately: think Israelis and Palestinians with Chatham as the gaza Strip.......

Ill support the panthers except for 2 or 3 times a yr. :thumb:

The bolded literally made me lol

The question is, who is who and who controls the Gaza Strip?

Folks, you gotta be from 'round here to appreciate some of this stuff.

.....and if you're not from 'round here and you know where Chatham is at, you've got too much time on your hands.:lol2:

POY is Henry and that should end that discussion. No one has had a better year and not to mention he plays on clearly the best team in the 10th.

I think Henry is the POY, no doubt. O'Hearn won last year with a 21-5 regular season and now they are 22-2 so it stands to reason he will be the COY. I think Hinson should get some votes because Augusta was supposed to drop off the face of the earth but were rolling right along and in the region discussion until the Snapp injury. I think Scott has been way too inconsistent this season to reward the coach. And Harrison County should have a much better record with or without Jenkins. They have too much talent to be the mediocre team that they are. And maybe in the end Hinson does win it because of they success Augusta has had. Mason County was supposed to be good, weren't they? So O'Hearn is doing what was expected.

Traditionally the coach of the winner of the 10th Region "A" Tounament is the Class "A" Coach of the Year, which would be Jason Hinson, and the winner of the 10th Region Tournament would be the overall Coach of the Year.

However, a few years back the coaches boycotted Happy Osborne's becoming the COY and changed the format to an open vote for COY.

Not sure, now that things seemed to have simmered down at MoCo, if we have returned to the traditional way of choosing the COYs.
