Is CovCath on the verge of the Greatest 9th Region Dynasty Ever?

Featured Replies

Without having to re-read the entire thread, what is considered the greatest dynasty in NKY history?

If going by most regional tities: Holmes in a runaway.

I believe CovCath has the most regional titles in a row. 5 in late 60's early 70's.

Best run in the state tournament: Holmes made it to three straight semi finals in 07, 08, 09, two straight state championship games in 08 & 09 winning the state championship in 09.

CovCath two regional titles in 4 straight regional championship game appearances (13,14,15, and 16) and state title in 2014.

It makes Mote's five in a row seem really special. The Colonels will be back.

Thanks for the info-that is all I was looking for. A dynasty is a team/school that holds the top of the mantle for a long time. The # of Regional Titles all-time is irrelevant because that is just history.

It seems to me that the greatest NKY run was by CCH winning 5 in a row then .For this bunch: 4 straight Regional Finals, with 2 State Semi's and a State Championship to boot in my mind is a nice start. They have a incredible pipeline in the halls and also coming in, but yes you cannot project too far ahead. The title of the topic was verge. Interesting topic.

Moeller is 3x the size of CCH?!! Where did you get this ? I am sure Moeller admin would be surprised to find out they have 1800 boys enrolled, that's over double what they report..

The problem in Kentucky is that there is no divisions like in Ohio. You really cant think that a 230 boys student enrollment should compete with a 600 or 1000 student enrollment school. It happens every once in a while but percentages are with the big schools. So yes your 6A schools and 5A schools with always have the advantage.

Kudos to NC. This was their last chance for a while and they took great advantage of it.

Keep drinking the kool-aid Clyde but, the 2016 9th region champs aren't buying it.

If only you could say that without sounding like a pretentious know-it-all. But you can't...

And your username? Fits this site perfectly.

And this makes what NCC did even more special. Beating CovCath who has over 3 times the male enrollment and a strong hoops pedigree is no easy task. What NCC accomplishes year after year with their small enrollment is nothing short of amazing.

This is why anybody with any common sense talks about a "dynasty" after the fact not before. How do you predict a "dynasty"??

Since I started it relax. Look up what "verge" means. I started it after watching St. Pius 7th and 8th grade play last year. CovCath had just won the state title and looked like they had a good shot at winning another (which they did). On top of that, they had an undefeated Frosh team and a good JV team. Then you add in what they had in the 7th and 8th grade coming up and that's why I brought it up. Winning the state title was the thing that eluded every multiple region winner with the exception of Holmes in the mid to late 2000s. Last year they made the state Semis. That would put them on the "VERGE" of matching Holmes and potentially surpassing them. So, for right now, this is on hold. However, they are loaded for at least the next 4 years.

Yeah, that's kinda the point, buddy. I'm making fun of the typical characters whose ridiculous banter we have to read all day and whose thoughts are yet laced with the emotion from their own high school years "back in the day." Kinda pathetic, isn't it?

You are half right.

I am not pretentious.

You're clueless.

Assuming this username is your first username on here I can easily see how my post could make you think what you think. We see it too often on here from frustrated fans.

However, my history tells everyone else something different. In no way have I discounted what NCC did last night. If you listened to the broadcast you would have heard nothing but praise for this NCC team from the get-go. If you have read my numerous posts you would see that not many were as high on Ben Weyer as I was after seeing him play his frosh year. You would also see me praise Hall as one of the top SOPHS in NKY (in a loaded class). I said it last night at the beginning of the broadcast - he was going to be a load for CCH to handle. Unfortunately, I was correct.

My post's brevity opened me up to your criticism for those that are unfamiliar with me. I get that.

What the post says has nothing to do with this year's team. What it does say is that there is going to be a much greater separation between these two teams over the next couple of years. I started a thread a while back asking if this was NCC's last chance for a while to get CCH. I truly believe it is/was and NCC did. NCC is IMO at the end of a great run of an abundance of talent on the Hill. Yes, they will be good. Will they contend? I don't think so. CCH just has too much talent NOW and coming along. Yes, I know NCC will always get good players and yes I know there is a possibility they get one of the top players in his class to enroll but I'll stand by my contention.

No emotion in my post. No "glory days" in my post.

Believe what you will. Take it however you wish. I truly meant kudos to NC.
