  1. You start a lot of threads about him on an online forum. That's what you did, at least...
  2. He started a thread, singling out a kid who is playing in the final four, knowing full well it would start a flame war. I'm up to speed.
  3. My problem with Clyde's comment was that, with a broad brush, he dismissed any chance that NCC has to win the region "for a while." Anytime someone thinks they have the vision to see into the future and declare that a team has no chance to win any longer, that person should get called out. No one can see into the future. No one knows how players will develop. The general theme is that NO ONE KNOWS. To dismiss a team is to insult their potential, their history, and their effort. To dismiss a team is also a fallacy of logic and human nature. We cannot say something so dismissive with such certainty. There is too much at play. There are a ton of great teams in the 9th and 10th. Still, there are some who only think there is one team of true worth in both of these regions. Only one team can be counted on to advance. The rest are dismissed. This is an insult to those other teams. That's all. Specifically, NewCath's case, they continually win with under 400 students, each and every year. Always going to states in football, always competitive in basketball, in the picture in soccer and track. I'm sure I'm missing other sports, but for a school that small to be so good in athletics is very rare. They are not to be dismissed. Their history is formidable.
  4. Yeah, that's kinda the point, buddy. I'm making fun of the typical characters whose ridiculous banter we have to read all day and whose thoughts are yet laced with the emotion from their own high school years "back in the day." Kinda pathetic, isn't it?
  5. If only you could say that without sounding like a pretentious know-it-all. But you can't...
  6. Why won't people just let the KHSAA investigation play out regarding Holy Cross and leave it at that. Their season is over. They are all good people. Let it be. The rules they broke aren't serious enough to warrant anything more than a warning and a fine. RCC9 seems to have pretty solid information. There are texts, social media posts, and pictures which all suggest aggressive recruiting of players. Other programs do it too. So let the investigation play out and congratulate the girls on a fine season. Good job Highlands.
  7. Wiggins is definitely coming back next year. He started a new off-season program with the prediction he'll grow 6 inches and gain 30 pounds by next October. If Jefferson joins him, they'll be unstoppable.
  8. I heard he signed with UK. Cal was secretly scouting all season and made an offer his dad couldn't refuse. The dorms at Lville were tempting, but Caleb decided to take his talents to Rupp.
  9. We get it, you work there. Don't take it personally, but the hard work of those that work there still does not cancel the fact that the arena is expensive, parking is atrocious, and the environment is dead. It is an awful place to play or watch high school basketball. And knowing what the NKU folks think about the place mars my opinion even more. I will never watch a game there again. It's a shame these games can't be at the high schools.
  10. When you say "9th region," you mean the teams? All teams or just those playing in the tournament? If you're saying the teams share this amount, I would need to see some sort of proof. Otherwise, I'm calling shenanigans.
  11. BB&T is a very unwelcoming and unaccommodating place to play. This is universally accepted as true. I know folks in athletics at NKU and even they are poorly treated by the independent company that runs the arena. They do not allow signs or flags or enthusiasm. As for money, I don't know what the high schools make, but it can't be much more than they would by hosting locally and splitting profits. I imagine a good home game brings in $2,000-3,000 in gate, maybe another $500-1,000 in concessions. These teams do not get much more than that playing at the former Bank. Here's why... BB&T does make money from this tournament. They do not make money from any other sporting event all year. No NKU game has ever turned a profit. So they rely on this tournament to at least make some money. But I have never heard anyone (from NKU or high schools) say something nice about their experience playing at BB&T. Kids probably do love it, but something is clearly wrong with the way these folks run their arena and the reason why games are played there.
  12. Someone who can score, pass, dribble, and play defense. Very well.
  13. Like I said earlier, there are clearly two camps here when it comes to parenting. One seems to be dwindling, one seems to be growing. There are those who hold their kids accountable, teach them rules, and hold them to those rules. They make sure kids know right and wrong and aren't as concerned about being their friend. These parents work with schools and other adults to help instill good ethic and outlook. Then there are those who want to be their kid's friend. They want to blame others when their kid does wrong. They blame teachers for failing grades and blame coaches for not playing their kid enough when they lose (or win). They teach their kid entitlement and think they're doing what's best for them, not realizing the pernicious effects down the road. I'll leave it up to you to decide which camp is growing and which is dwindling... When I was a kid, things were certainly different.
  14. Since I've been delivering legal lectures all evening, I'll divert with a math lecture. A circle does not have an end, so it cannot have a "dead end." But you're probably right
  15. This is all correct. And just because a sub-contractor is supervised by a higher authority, the voluntary workers in that company do not work for the higher authority. Clear legal precedent. KHSAA is a private company. It says so, very clearly. I already posted on this. You are not seeing the subtleties that exist. You are seeing what you want and applying is universally. I'm sorry, but it's not that simple. But believe what you want. I respectfully depart. Bash away if you want.
  16. Okay, you're right. Feel better? Believe it or not, though, some parents work with schools and like punishments. Some parents would gladly tell the school what happened and gladly reinforce and accept the punishment that the student and parent agreed to in attending the school. I'm that parent. Not all parents are like this, but some are. I know of a kid whose dad made him sit more than the handbook-mandated rules because he drank. These people exist. There are some that will sue any chance they can get and try to get their kids out of consequences. I know this.
  17. It's your board. You want to win, so you win. Feel better? KHSAA is the government. Anyone who participates in KHSAA is the government. There ya go. Government all around. This couldn't possibly be more complicated than that, right?
  18. Yes, I covered this in a previous post. Government agencies sub-contract services all the time and there is clear legal precedent stating that those sub-contractors in no way represent the agency. You can read the post in its entirety. This is my area of law, which I practice, for my job. But maybe I don't know what I'm talking about...(smh)
  19. Now we're just going in circles. I laid out my argument. You laid out yours. The jury can decide who they believe.
  20. It's not the end of the story because it happens all the time. Minors are sat because of minor possessions and DUI's. It happened this year with a number of schools. If a student says "yeah, I drank," then they can be punished. If they say, "yeah, I was arrested," they can be punished before any conviction because they admitted to breaking the law, and the rules. So if the rule says they can be punished, they will. It happens. End of story.
  21. It would have to be reported by the parents. If it's hearsay, the school can investigate and ask the student. But the school has limited ability to do much more. Police cannot report the record of a minor. But if other students saw the student-in-question arrested, their word could be used to hold the student accountable to the rules. Many handbooks state that parents must report an incident. But some still do not. Limited jurisdiction by the schools in this regard. Over 18 is fair game.
  22. 1978 The State Board of Education delegated the authority to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association for the management of the interscholastic athletic program of the secondary schools.
  23. No. See below... The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in April, 1917. Charter members were Frankfort Boys’ High of Louisville, Owensboro, Carrollton, Lexington, Carlisle, Anderson County, Monticello, Somerset, Ashland, Stanford, Paris, LaGrange, Morganfield, Danville, Clark County, Covington and Cynthiana. The organization was around before the state government sub-contracted its services. It is clearly stated as a PRIVATE, non-profit. You cannot be private and governmental. Government is public - publicly funded, publicly voted on, publicly determined. That's how the law sees it. Trust me.
  24. Yes. They could make the decision to not participate in KHSAA events and play independently. It would not be a good one, but they are not held captive to the alternative.
  25. Correct, the state has designated management to it, with limited authority. They do not fund it. This is very common in states, in many different levels. They sub out agencies and watchdogs for tasks with limited authority. It's a sub-contractor and very clearly stated so. Sub-contractors do not represent the agency that hired them. Clear precedents establish this. If KHSAA employee does something wrong, government is not sued. Private entity, KHSAA, is sued.
