You and I and most on here know that. But as was posted earlier, the "All-A" part of it, the disclaimer if you will, is often conveniently omitted, overlooked, and frankly forgotten. In the hearts and minds of fans and schools and the even the media it morphs into the "real" state championship and is celebrated as such, and laymen don't know the difference. That's how it takes away.

 

Then you and I must watch different things from the media, and read different things posted. Because every since the All A existed, anytime I hear people talk about who won it they clearly say the All A state champion of Kentucky. I rarely have heard people say hey this school was the State Champion of Kentucky. Anytime I hear people say it, I clearly hear people say the All A State Champion.

Everybody might get a trophy, but NewCath gets a day off of school for winning as well......

During a school pep rally, the Most Reverend Roger J. Foys, D.D., stopped by to congratulate the boys basketball team on winning the All "A" State Tournament. He also gave the school the day off on Monday (as usual) for winning the Championship!:ylsuper::banana::lol2:

 

The Bishop likes a good photo op. It gives him something to do when all these Covington Diocese NKY Catholic high schools win All "A' State Championships! He likes going around giving days off. But I think it messes up the teachers' lesson plans!

You would disagree? I don't see the Bishop posing for photos with the LIT winner. I don't see rings being ordered for the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic winner.

 

The small schools that win these championships are proud of their small school place in the big world. It is often what the appeal of the small school world is, the tight knit communities and people who back their schools.

 

I can think of plenty of large schools that offer plenty of school spirit and community backing. So where's their extra shot at another so called "State Championship"?

 

It all goes back to the underlying current that something special has to be done for small schools because they "can't compete". I know in some other sports the big private schools dominate. But in basketball, it's been shown that All-A schools can compete.

Does any of this really matter? The larger and private A schools dominate this tournament year after year.

I did check your posts, and I do not see citings "often" as you stated, your opinion, yes, but we know what that is because you have pounded your opinion on this thread through 275 posts…so we get it, your angry about the All A…get over it.

 

Why would the Bishop of the Diocese of Covington go to the winner of the LIT ? Wouldn't that be Bishop Kurtz' responsibility ?

 

Traditional Bank has and will continue to be a showcase tournament for teams, not an all state invitational for classified schools.

 

And yes, someone, somewhere, decided that they would put the time, effort, energy and dollars into putting on a tournament for the A schools, regardless of reason, and they did and continue to do so. Just because the larger schools don't have a Stan Steidel who is as committed to his cause doesn't mean the tournament is a bad thing, it's just a thing…..

Who does it take away from? Anyone not considering the Sweet 16 winner the State Champion?

Is the kid that wins the Class A or AA cross Country Title not a "State Champion" even if the AAA winner ran a faster time?

 

In response to another post above, the All A isn't for schools that can't compete. It is for all schools across the state of a certain size to participate in, no more no less.

You really need to find another hobby. Don't be so bitter, work out or something, take your frustration out at the gym and if that doesn't work then fix whatever you think is wrong with the A or start your own State Tournament.

Maybe an All AA could start for all schools to big for the All A.

Maybe I say things to just see grown adults like you get all worked up over nothing. Have your seen comments by others, why attack me? It is done exactly like the KHSAA would do it. It has a set criteria for which teams can compete in it, just like the KHSAA does for it classes that gives State Championships out in other sports. The KHSAA probably definitely has classes now if it wasn't for this. It's really not complicated to figure this out. As I said before the only time someone could or should have a problem with this is if people just call the winner the state champion and leaves out the All A in front of it. However the majority of the time people clearly say the All A State Champion, so it takes nothing away at all from the KHSAA State Tournament. So seriously what is the problem? You said in your previous post you like to see grown adults get all worked up. Well what do you think you are doing getting all worked up about this subject? Its the All A State Champion, and it doesn't take away from the KHSAA State Champion or hurt anyone, well besides apparently the people like you who have made such a big deal out of them calling it the All A State Championship.

I don't think anyone has said that winning the All A was the same as winning the Sweet 16 ever!

 

But it is as regulated by the KHSAA as any game played during the season. Same rules, same officials, games count toward the max a team can play...the only thing not KHSAA about the All A is that the KHSAA doesn't produce the event or take a cut of the money. Everything else is by the KHSAA rules.
