You guys kill me. For me...this has absolutely nothing to do with HHS. NOTHING! Take the "he's an HHS jealous homer" glasses off and listen to what I'm saying. Pretend I'm from Ohio and read it all again.

I was going to respond, but thought better of it. You're a little too worked up.

Whats crazy is the fact that you would be fine with it, if the KHSAA decides tomorrow you know what we have decided to also recognize all the pass All A State Champions as State Champions too. So everything could be done exactly the same, but you say you would be fine with it if the KHSAA decides to come out tomorrow and say they recognize it too? Yeah that makes sense.

The KHSAA is never going to come out publically and recognize it. It's just wouldn't be smart for them to do. As I said I am sure the KHSAA loves it, because they probably would have changed their format now too. However if they recognized it, then they can't say that Kentucky is still one of the only states that hasn't went to true classes. The All A State tournament allows them to still say here in Kentucky we still do it like we always have.

:deadhorse: again, then the whole point is, since KHSAA does not recognize it, then it is not a "STATE" championship. Who cares the all "A" parents and kids recognize it, of course they would, it makes them feel warm and fuzzy that they can say they are a state champ, but they are not, Period, my point. I was not born and raised in Fort Thomas, nor Ky, nor USA. Travelled and lived in several states and countries, calling yourself a state champ, not recognized by your own association is bogus.

All A organization

Now it's a private school thing, someone must have really hurt yuor feelings.

Its a "matter of fact thing" that you all get your panties in a bunch because everyone else who is not in the All "A" recognize that there is only 1 state champ, period. So you undermine what actually is and hold your trophies and rings up high to say "hey, we matter too!!" bogus. :puke:

You say build your program like it is so easy to do.

It's NEVER easy. That's the beauty of it. It makes winning State all that more special. Until we start handing out State Championships like candy in a tournament that features only 1/3 of the state's teams.

I used the example back in 2006 that you can flip flop the Ludlow and Beechwood coaching staffs and the Beechwood coaching staff would not have gotten much better results than that current at Ludlow was getting was getting, while the Ludlow staff would have been able to go to Beechwood and do very well and all of a sudden that coaching staff would look great.

I think that's insulting. I'm pretty sure Mike Yeagle can coach a Girl Scout Troop to win State.

However there are smaller schools with good teams who do deserve to show they are a good team.

Please explain to me why one type of school DESERVES more chances than the others. You get what you earn, not what you deserve.

How are they not a State Champ? Because an organization which that is all the KHSAA is, is an organization won't come out and officially recognize it? Its not like the LIT or whatever very competitive tournament, which are only tournaments. This has a set criteria to be in it, and basically every team in the state that fits in that criteria plays in it. It is played out the exact same was as the KHSAA State Tournament. So if you win the All A State Tournament, you are then the best team in the State for all schools that have 200 or less in the STATE (KEY WORD BEING STATE). Then how could they not be named All A State Champ because that is exactly what they are. Would you be fine with it then if they get very specific with it and call it the the Small Schools with boys population of less than 200 State Champion. Because at the end of the day it deserves to be call a State Champion since it is something from all schools in the state that fits that criteria play in. Which means they are the best in the state for that criteria.

You say build your program like it is so easy to do. X and O's can only go so far, you also have to have the players too. I argued this back in the day in football. I talked about how there are some really good coaches at smaller schools, but you never know how good they are because they could do all the right things to build a program but without the players it may never show. See people at like a Highlands/Beechwood etc act like its so easy to build a program if you can do things the right way. However you can do all the things the right way and it may never show at a smaller school.

You talk about how the odds of a school with 600 boys playing schools with 1600 boys is not great. Well the odds are even worst for a school with only 200 boys or less than it is for the 600. So yes it never going to be a completely perfect system for everyone. However there are smaller schools with good teams who do deserve to show they are a good team. If you win the All A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP you do get the right to say you are a STATE CHAMPION for that criteria and the best school in the state with schools with 200 or less students like themselves. So what is the problem with those kids getting to know that they were truly the best team in the state when it came to that criteria of 200 boys or less?

Finally as I said before I am sure the KHSAA loves the fact that the All A State Tournament exist. Its probably the only reason they haven't had to change their format.

You make some great points and I do understand what you're saying. But here's what I'm saying. In regards to turning programs around. You are right. That's not easy to do in all areas. That can be the case in a lot of things in life. Should we just create and makeup things for people that don't have opportunities and hold our kids hands all the time. "If they can't compete and it's not fair, we'll just make something up that they can compete in." That's actually what's wrong with society today. Entitlements! But that's another subject. But I hope you get what I'm saying. Everyone can control what they want out of life. If you are in an area that is not good at a sport and you want to play for a good team and it's that important to you, then you have personal choices that can be made to change your situation. No, that's not always easy, but doable. And if you can't, well then that stinks, but is reality. We can't save everyone. There's always going to be really good programs and really bad programs.

And then in regards to the odds...no doubt in your scenario, the 200 sized school is at a worse disadvantage. I get it. But the 600 sized school is still at a great advantage. Are the kids in the 200 student school more important than the 600 student school...just because the 200 student school has it a little worse? What's wrong with schools of 600 students knowing they are the best in that division? Well they don't get that chance. If one kid gets a separate opportunity, then every kid deserves the same opportunity...right? Either classes or not. 4-6 state champions or 1. Can't have it both ways.

I agree the A keeps the heat off the KHSAA. That is 100% true.

In KY, we choose to play to one state champion. If we want to provide more opportunities, it should be across the board and not for one division...just to keep the small schools from complaining. The A is a great concept, if you are really doing for teams that have no shot of competing. That is not the case anymore.

I would have to believe that everyone who thinks the All-A champion has the right to call themselves "State Champions" is lobbying the KHSAA hard every day to add classes to all sports. ... and if they aren't, then I say you can't have your cake and eat it too...you can't be proud that KY hasn't given into classes like so many states and still has only 1 true State Champion, then turn around and say the All-A winner is also a "State Champion".

Whats crazy is the fact that you would be fine with it, if the KHSAA decides tomorrow you know what we have decided to also recognize all the pass All A State Champions as State Champions too. I honestly think they could get away with it if they made you play in one or the other. Have the school choose. Have the student population determined. Identify the schools that qualify for the small school state. Then have them file for what they want to play. Do you want to run with the big dogs or do you want to run with the small guys. If you have a good team, you would most likely opt for the big prize. If you have a down year, maybe you go to the small school tournament. I think its a perfect solution.

How are they not a State Champ? Because an organization which that is all the KHSAA is, is an organization won't come out and officially recognize it? Please explain to me why one type of school DESERVES more chances than the others. You get what you earn, not what you deserve.

So a school that has 1600 boys to chose from to put a team together deserves a better chance to do well since they have more boys to choose from to make a team? I don't think that should count as deserving then based off what you say.

As for Mike Yeagle it was not a shot at him at all. He is one of the best of all time, but I bet you he admit he wouldn't have looked as great then if Ludlow, or another school like that was the only place he was at. If it was only about the coaching, then no coach would ever leave a small school to go to a bigger program or more established program. Because at the end of the day, why does a coach leave for a bigger program or more established program? Its because they believe they would have a better chance to win there. If it was just only coaching, no coach would ever need to leave a program because there coaching would make it a top notch program by itself. There are plenty of great coaches who probably do all the right things for their programs, but that never gets as noticed, because you can do everything right and it doesn't mean your program will have the same success as other programs. Especially in today's world of sports, parents will move their kids at a young age into districts that already have an established successful academic and sports program because every parent thinks they have the next big star. So you can have a great coach, but still may never get the players in that you need to win at a high rate.

Finally I would buy your point on the State Champion thing, if the teams that win it only say we are the state champs. However everyone I know who has won it, and even the shirts and banners they get. They all clearly say All A State Champs, so its not like its confusing anyone on who wins the KHSAA State Championship. Who wins the All A State Championship is a great accomplishment and they deserve to call themselves the All A State Champion, and who wins the KHSAA State Championship is an even bigger accomplishment, no one would argue that.

Now your lost paragraph here is the first and only argument I have heard from you all. I can buy the argument some. I wouldn't be against if they did change things around a little bit and make a rule. If you did win the region in the All A State Tournament, the very next year you can't participate in the All A. Because as you said a team like NCC has not only been the best small school the last few years, they are one of the best in the region the last few years. However that is not the case for all small schools, so don't change the All A State Tournament because of them. If a team wins the All A Region, then the next year they can't be in the All A State Tournament. So yes I can buy the argument that they could change how it is done a little bit. However I still say whoever wins it does deserve to be called All A State Champs because they truly are. They are the State Champ for the criteria that was laid out.

The only thing there is you can't penalize this year's team for last year's results. Look at NCC this year. Nowhere near the team they had last year. Same with HC...loaded this year, but lose 4 key seniors and imo, will be very average next year. It has to either be an opt in or out or a group of people that create a true invitational year by year.

Someone must have really hurt your feelings?

Not at all. I have never won an All A State Championship, or even participated in one. However it seems to me the only ones who have their feelings hurt are the ones who are going out of there way saying people don't deserve to call themselves the All A State Champs. I mean seriously does it really bother you all that bad, does it effect you all in someway? It doesn't take away at all from the KHSAA State Championship. No one would ever confuse the All A State Champ as being the State Champion of all schools. Just the state champion for the criteria that was laid out for all the schools that take place in it that meet that criteria.
