And we have kinda different agendas. They don't want it called a state championship. I don't care what they call it if it's truly for the small schools who can't compete...you know...the way it's marketed. I would absolutely love it if that was the case.

Don't know why the big hang up on it being called state champion, the actual name is ALL A State Champ its specific. The big state tournament is called the Sweet Sixteen (State Champion) which it isn't specific to a certain division like football is so when you win it you are the Sate Champion. When Highlands wins it in football they call it 4A State Champion not just State Champion and yes understand KHSAA made football that way, but my piont is why does it matter to them.

The way its marketed i understand but who's to say the ones they have in it every year aren't the small schools, just because they can compete with bigger schools doesn't mean they shouldn't be consider in the A. They have a set enrollment size and thats what they go by. I am not a 100% sure but I think there have been school's that participated in the past that aren't allowed now because their enrollment went up.

Not if they played in 6 A.

You mean like SK, Ryle, Boone or Cooper and the 20 + State Titles they have in 3 A ?

:sssh: They don't know that!

Too Funny!! You know our girls lift more than us in the weight room right, that's a fact. :thumb: But then dg21 did call me "Meathead Rob Lowe"? I was flattered that he thought I was all buffed out, ripped abs, but then reality hit looking in the mirror. :ohbrother: Guess my "Peaked at High school Rob Lowe" dreams are gone. :( I'll never workout in the gym the same, too depressing to only deadlift 695, 2 weeks ago. I just went ahead and stopped working out all together. It's shameful.

But to answer CAP, Yes I have a problem calling someone a State Champ when not recognized by the organization that sanctions it. Especially from what I read, that not all "A" schools are invited, and is determined by a groups of guys who decide what the standards are, including enrollment? Seems like a devious and sinister plan set out by the private schools to take over the world (illuminati must be involved). That to me is not equal or fair. I think the state needs to split the teams as they do in football and track. Then the all "A" teams won't have anything to boast about, feel so special and unique. Then KHSAA can make a ton of money on 3 sweet 16 tournaments. Everyone is happy, everyone gets a trophy.....Yeah!!

So you're okay that a team has two opportunities to win a state when 2/3 of the rest of the schools only get one chance? Either go to classes or make this for teams without other opportunities. Fans from schools like NCC, Brossart, HC, Owensboro Cath, and other schools that can compete...well sure they love this tournament. Why wouldn't they?

It should be a privilege to win any kind of state tournament. They shouldn't be handed out like candy because someone feels sorry for small schools. If you go to a small school and don't like it, fix it! Change your situation! In today's tournament, the only teams that are going to come close to winning the A are teams who have no problems competing in their region. The key word is "competing"...not winning. Competing does not mean you have to win it. It means you are competitive with the top half of the teams in your region. If you are, then you should not be in the A. You choose one or the other. This tournament has drifted sooo far away from what it was intended for and now you have plenty of instances where the team that won their A region also won their region! That's crazy! You talk about taking opportunities away from other kids!

Newsflash! Due to the great points made in this thread, and the overwhelming influence of HHS, the KHSAA just ruled that both the boys and girls 2015 All "A" State Champions have been ruled ineligible for their respective Regional Tournament, thus ineligible for the Sweet 16. So, now everyone has a shot at a trophy. No double dipping! :lol2:

Now it's a private school thing, someone must have really hurt yuor feelings.

How is it soo far away form what it was intended for? 90 precent of the teams that are in it are the same ones that have been in it for years but all of a sudden because HC and NCC has a few titles now you have a problem with it. Stop beating around the bush and say what you really want to say.

The All-A defenders have left the building after these strong, to the point posts. Well done summarizing the feelings of many.

Took us 10 pages but we're finally getting somewhere...

Then what are the odds when a school with 600 students plays a school with 1600? If you are going to go by pure numbers, isn't that an even greater disadvantage? Where's their extra chance to compete "at the state level"

Is it up to the KHSAA to make sure schools are competitive, small or large? Is that their business? On paper every team starts with an equal chance to win in the post. Its up to the school, and coaches. Build your program!

You say build your program like it is so easy to do. X and O's can only go so far, you also have to have the players too. I argued this back in the day in football. I talked about how there are some really good coaches at smaller schools, but you never know how good they are because they could do all the right things to build a program but without the players it may never show. I used the example back in 2006 that you can flip flop the Ludlow and Beechwood coaching staffs and the Beechwood coaching staff would not have gotten much better results than that current at Ludlow was getting was getting, while the Ludlow staff would have been able to go to Beechwood and do very well and all of a sudden that coaching staff would look great. See people at like a Highlands/Beechwood etc act like its so easy to build a program if you can do things the right way. However you can do all the things the right way and it may never show at a smaller school.

You talk about how the odds of a school with 600 boys playing schools with 1600 boys is not great. Well the odds are even worst for a school with only 200 boys or less than it is for the 600. So yes it never going to be a completely perfect system for everyone. However there are smaller schools with good teams who do deserve to show they are a good team. If you win the All A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP you do get the right to say you are a STATE CHAMPION for that criteria and the best school in the state with schools with 200 or less students like themselves. So what is the problem with those kids getting to know that they were truly the best team in the state when it came to that criteria of 200 boys or less?

Finally as I said before I am sure the KHSAA loves the fact that the All A State Tournament exist. Its probably the only reason they haven't had to change their format.

Too Funny!! You know our girls lift more than us in the weight room right, that's a fact. :thumb: But then dg21 did call me "Meathead Rob Lowe"? Whats crazy is the fact that you would be fine with it, if the KHSAA decides tomorrow you know what we have decided to also recognize all the pass All A State Champions as State Champions too. So everything could be done exactly the same, but you say you would be fine with it if the KHSAA decides to come out tomorrow and say they recognize it too? Yeah that makes sense.

The KHSAA is never going to come out publically and recognize it. It's just wouldn't be smart for them to do. As I said I am sure the KHSAA loves it, because they probably would have changed their format now too. However if they recognized it, then they can't say that Kentucky is still one of the only states that hasn't went to true classes. The All A State tournament allows them to still say here in Kentucky we still do it like we always have.

Isn't that exactly what they did when they went to a 6A class system in Football, making sure everyone competes in the playoffs, and redistricting every 4 years?

No. First, not everyone makes the football playoffs in every class. Second, for the same reason 8th graders can't play Varsity football, there is an inherent safety reason for more classes in football.

How is it soo far away form what it was intended for? 90 precent of the teams that are in it are the same ones that have been in it for years but all of a sudden because HC and NCC has a few titles now you have a problem with it. Stop beating around the bush and say what you really want to say.

Could care less that they have titles. I've researched every region. There are perennial winners in every region. And most of them compete in their regular region. What I'm talking about is statewide, not just NKY. So no, you're wrong. I just use them as examples because I'm the most familiar with them. Last year everyone thought I hated NCC. This year it's HC. I'm saying year to year, if you can compete, then you shouldn't be invited to the All A. I said in another post, I have no problem with HC being there next year because they drop way down after this year. They won't compete for a regional title next year. People always try to pin me to Highlands or that I'm jealous...I speak from what is right and wrong, not by the fact that I went to HHS or I have kids there. It does not influence the way I think at all. Most won't believe that and I don't care. I speak for what I personally stand for.

So you're okay that a team has two opportunities to win a state when 2/3 of the rest of the schools only get one chance? Either go to classes or make this for teams without other opportunities. Now your lost paragraph here is the first and only argument I have heard from you all. I can buy the argument some. I wouldn't be against if they did change things around a little bit and make a rule. If you did win the region in the All A State Tournament, the very next year you can't participate in the All A. Because as you said a team like NCC has not only been the best small school the last few years, they are one of the best in the region the last few years. However that is not the case for all small schools, so don't change the All A State Tournament because of them. If a team wins the All A Region, then the next year they can't be in the All A State Tournament. So yes I can buy the argument that they could change how it is done a little bit. However I still say whoever wins it does deserve to be called All A State Champs because they truly are. They are the State Champ for the criteria that was laid out.

Newsflash! You guys kill me. For me...this has absolutely nothing to do with HHS. NOTHING! Take the "he's an HHS jealous homer" glasses off and listen to what I'm saying. Pretend I'm from Ohio and read it all again.
