I did sooooo good for sooooo long! And I waited til it was over! And like I told LB, different agenda for me this year.

I doubt the KHSAA thinks about the All-A much, because frankly if it was popular and made $$$, they would make classes and run it themselves. I would say they probably would agree that the winner is not a State Champion - what else would they say? They clearly feel the merits of only having 1 Champ outweighs all else.

 

What if the All-A tournament committee tomorrow changed the school enrollment size to get in the tourney to 200, or even 100? Would you still call the winning team a State Champion?

 

The All A makes a very nice "chunk of change", and the KHSAA can take some pointers from the All A committee.

I agree...but I have changed my fight over the years due to the education from this board. I think it's an outstanding event! Just wish there was a way to make it for the schools that really struggle. Not schools that have the same chances of winning as 70% of the state.

 

If that were the case, IMHO I don't think you would see the attendance that they get now. :idunno:

Disagree, publically they would never say the All A winner is a State Champion that's just dumb business. If they recognize it, then as I mentioned a few times they then can't turn around and talk about how this state is still one of the only classes that still does it this way. However privately I am sure they love the All A State Tournament, and have no problem with whoever wins it being called exactly what it is the All A State Champion. The All A has saved them from having to change from the traditional way this State has always done it. The All A State Champ is exactly what it is, only the All A State Champ. Its not nothing more, nothing less.

Could care less that they have titles. I've researched every region. There are perennial winners in every region. And most of them compete in their regular region. What I'm talking about is statewide, not just NKY. So no, you're wrong. I just use them as examples because I'm the most familiar with them. Last year everyone thought I hated NCC. This year it's HC. I'm saying year to year, if you can compete, then you shouldn't be invited to the All A. I said in another post, I have no problem with HC being there next year because they drop way down after this year. They won't compete for a regional title next year. People always try to pin me to Highlands or that I'm jealous...I speak from what is right and wrong, not by the fact that I went to HHS or I have kids there. It does not influence the way I think at all. Most won't believe that and I don't care. I speak for what I personally stand for.

Not at all. I have never won an All A State Championship, or even participated in one. However it seems to me the only ones who have their feelings hurt are the ones who are going out of there way saying people don't deserve to call themselves the All A State Champs. I mean seriously does it really bother you all that bad, does it effect you all in someway? It doesn't take away at all from the KHSAA State Championship. No one would ever confuse the All A State Champ as being the State Champion of all schools. Just the state champion for the criteria that was laid out for all the schools that take place in it that meet that criteria.

What's the integrity of it? Does it take away from the KHSAA State Champ? Nope? Do people consider the All A State Champ the best in the whole state? Nope. Do people realize that the winner of the All A State Championship is only the best team in the whole state of schools who met the criteria for it? Yes. Does basically every team that meets that criteria in the state play for it? Yes. Is the format for it set up the exact same, by having to win the region first? Yes. Does the banner they get for it say All A State Champion, and not just State Champion? Yes. So what integrity is lost by it? None. The only way integrity would be lost by it, is if the winner of the All A State Championship only considered themselves the State Champion of Kentucky and doesn't say the All A State Championship. Then yes I agree, because they should be clear they are just the All A State Champion. No more, no less.

I thought it was about giving small schools a chance, err I mean a 2nd chance. I guess we know why they'll never lower the tournament enrollment criteria.. no one is going to make a "chunk of change" off of Silver Grove vs Augusta.

You and I and most on here know that. But as was posted earlier, the "All-A" part of it, the disclaimer if you will, is often conveniently omitted, overlooked, and frankly forgotten. In the hearts and minds of fans and schools and the even the media it morphs into the "real" state championship and is celebrated as such, and laymen don't know the difference. That's how it takes away.

Agree. The All A reimburses much more money to the schools than the KHSAA. the All A will also pay for the schools to stay the whole week if they want. At rupp you lose you have to leave or hotel comes out of your own pocket.

You failed to mention that they were going to get a day off anyway. The Bishop hands out days off at every school visit. It wasn't due to winning this particular regular season basketball tournament.

 

But do keep posting the pics. Making my point for me.
