The Covington kid knows how to play the game. Really nice low post game. Solid footwork. Knows how to use his body. He has an "old man's game" which is a compliment.

Let me start by saying I'm a Covington guy. It's where I'm from. But I follow local basketball from out of town box scores so this might not be fair .

 

But looking at Holmes resume is it fair to say their state ranking has more to do with the recent success of the program and less to do with results on the floor this year ?

From the looks of those videos it seems to me like Holmes needs to spend a little less time dunking in warm-ups and more time getting loose and ready for things they're acutually going to do in games. Yeah that stuff is nice and cool to show off but there's no point in trying to show off in warm-ups and then getting into the game and playing the way they did.
