The JV squads split this year. Although the Varsity Birds beat them easily in the regular season this they squeaked out a 3 pt win in the playoffs. The Birds JV was 1-5 with the sole 2 pt win over Cov Cath.

 

The games should be competitive which is what the fans want isnt it?

 

Yeah that JV stuff ALWAYS generally plays out the same way in Varsity, PLEASE! :laugh:

Needed a breather.

I have known Bob Rowe since his coaching/teaching days at Brossart and have every confidence that if he made this decision, it was a well-founded one.

 

He has done wonders transforming Covington Catholic into a first-class championship caliber high school, spritually, academically and athletically. Wirth has been on staff for six years. This was not a knee-jerk decision. If Rowe felt that Wirth was capable of developing the program and taking it to the next level along with every other high standard being set there, Wirth would remain his head coach. This obviously isn't the case.

 

Rest assured that there are underlying issues that led to Coach WIrth's demise at CovCath, outside of his win-loss record or ability to beat Highlands. Wirth himself has made efforts to move elsewhere. While it is no crime to test your value in the marketplace, he also has a responsibility to be up front with his present employer.

 

Rowe is a no-nonsense administrator who runs a student-centered operation. He holds people accountable, be they a teacher, coach, or member of the support staff. The enrollment at CovCath has risen steadily to nearly 600 students on his watch. He came under fire when he made the decision to make a change in the basketball arena, and will take heat from outsiders looking in over replacing Dave Wirth.

 

Believe me that it will work out for the best for CovCath in the long run. Rowe's track record speaks for itself, and it will once again in this case.

Doubtful, too much time invested in the Kentucky Public school districts. He is far enough along he probably wouldn't want to leave KTRS

And yes Rowe was hearing from both parents and players.

 

Also heard over the holidays that it was starting to affect the capital campaign.

 

But some of the things that happen in the lock room this year, I can understand why there was a mini revolt this year and Rowe was staring to hear from parents.

Back around the Beechwood game I said that reliable sources told me that many people were not happy and about some of the issues going on. Some didn't want to heat that at acted like everything was fine and that these were just rumors. But CCH posters on here were reporting this as well. I also heard months ago to expect a push to be made.

 

When you see how Brossart was shown the door after inheriting a monster of a schedule, some said that Wirth's days were numbered as well. I don't think that their schedule next year is a good one, as far as chances to win, JMO.

 

This is just the nature of this career, and yes at many programs wins/losses do matter. But I am hearing this had to also do with more than wins/losses.
