Best wishes to Dave Wirth. I'll let the current parents debate whether he lost the team or not. I just appreciate the effort and time he put in. I've seen his wife and kids at game and they're ALL IN. I can't imagine being the wife of a Covington Catholic football coach. Can't be easy.

Well said, and I echo these sentiments.

The life of the head coach at a high school coach isn't an easy one- their families lives even less so. We hope they remember the good times on game day in the stands and not the vocal minority (mostly inebriated minority- hey, we've all got them- Anyone who says different is a liar)

I applaud and appreciate what Coach Wirth and his staff were able to accomplish in their time at Cov Cath. He is leaving the program in better shape now than when he arrived which doesn't happen too often in these circumstances.

I am sad and I know the boys are sad about this change- that's only natural no matter what you feel about the coaches personally. To those boys I say have faith- Bob Rowe is man with integrity and high standards and I have faith he will make the right hire. Good things are ahead.

Or the part where Bob Rowe has systematically ramped up attendance at a private school year after year in a time when no one is spending money and - oh by the way- brought in a championship level basketball coach.

 

Feeder schools are way up and this trickles down to CCH and NDA and others I wouldn't give credit alone to him. some public schools aren't taking more students which has forced parents to parents to send to the feeders

Not giving credit alone- but he's captain of the ship at a time when they have the highest enrollment in a long long time and the programs, the facilities improvements and direction given is a huge reason.

Also - please tell me a public school who doesn't take a student living in their district.

I guess to put a finer point to it, I should say it seems many of the boys are sad. Sad for Wirth and sad for the unknown future of their assistant coaches who they have all built relationships with.

It was evident last year player leadership was a minimum. Heard stories most of it came from 1 senior, 2 juniors, and a sophomore.

 

I definitely think this move was made at the wrong time, now, because of no coaches, the offseason program has been stopped and to start up at a later TBD date.

It feels like your being a a bit dramatic about all this. Of course the kids are upset- but you aren't doing them or the program any favors with the dramatics and publishing locker room stuff. The off season program will not stop- a new coach will be found and the kids will be fine.
