They didn't surprise me. I knew they would be solid last year. I think the only way they surprised people would to think if they were going to finish last. I don't know of anyone who thought Grant was better than Scott last year. Finishing 3rd or 4th was about what many I think would have predicted Scott to finish last year.

 

I don't think anyone thought Grant was better. But in the prediction threads, many had them losing to Holmes, Newport and Conner. I think more than a few people thought their only wins last year would be over Grant and Holy Cross.

Wow!!!! Really???? According to many of the 'so called' experts out there, maybe Highlands should just cancel their season since the ? are so huge. Same things could have been said last year and the year before that and the year before that if I am not mistaken. Weren't those QB's first year starters as well?

 

I wouldn't go to that extreme. I mean, the ? I speak of are more than capable, just it looks to be the biggest ? on the team IMO! Sorry, forgot to add IMO before. As far as the other being first year Qb's, yes they were. And they put in numerous hours and training outside of Highlands program to get to the level they achieved. And I have no doubt that Austin Hergott and his family will do the same. With that said, this will be a moot point then come August.

FWIW, I like it, but disagree at this point. Highlands has a huge ? in the QB position. I'm hoping Hergott does what he needs to do this off season and leads the Birds to another State Championship. Won't know till first game where this team will head this year.

Good point, I think most would be surprised if they can pull 3 of those out but if they do that certainly does indicate an very nice season for them.

I think Scott has a great chance of winning their district which would be huge! First time winning district if I'm correct.

 

Their out of district games I can see them beating NCC and possibly Conner. I don't know how Dixie will be this year but I think it could be a good game and I don't think they will beat SK. So Scott should have a really good year and I think the move to 4A will do nothing but help them and their program.

It's never easy. That's why more teams don't do it.

 

I believe HHS won the first 4 5A state championships in KY history so it's not uncharted territory. However, with the rise of BG and other schools it will certainly be a tremendous challenge. I expect the boys will be up to it.

You talk as if this were some major obstacle. Was Highlands not in 5A just a short time ago? And how many 5A titles did they win in that time period? Keep reaching my friend. I know it is tough to support a program that quite frankly has won absolutely nothing outside of a state basketball championship (fine accomplishment I might add) and attempting to put down THE program in NKY and arguably one of the top 5 in KY. Been around a long time and will continue for many years to come.

Yeah looks that way. Hey, no ill will towards anyone, especially a high school kid. Austin Hergott has all the tools to succeed. IMO, I think he and his parents need to get that "extra'" outside help for him to reach that top tier level QB status. If they do, HHS rolls this year once again! IMO again!
