Who is to blame for UK's underachievement?

Featured Replies

Meaning that both Dayton and Western Kentucky fared better against the Rebels offensively than the Cats. Ole Miss has only played four teams apart from Kentucky that aren't complete rubbish and 50% of them had a better offensive showing against the Rebels than UK. I stand by it. If WKU can put up 80 on Ole Miss then so should the team with a million all-Americans, right?

Kentucky shot something insane like 50% from three in that game while the big men struggled to score. I believe Lyles, Cauley-Stein, and Johnson combined for something like 8-23 from the field. To my mind, that's not going to get it done.

It's been UK's D, not the O that has been letting them down. Booker has been lighting it up! Andrew Harrison is the one killing them on O, hope Eulis starts getting to start over Andrew, he's a baby when things don't go his way. :depressed:

I know you did, and yes he was....What's your point? He's not a great 3 point shooter. He's good, especially when he gets hot, but he's never been considered great.

My point is that he is not as good as advertised. In all fairness that is true for many high school recruits. In the A&M game he was 4 for 20 and 2 for 13. Why keep putting it up? Why not defer to teammates who are shooting better that game?

Too much time off (Dec 13, 20, 27) between games these guys are young just need to play and cut back on Aaron Harrison playing time some would help.

We'll just have to agree to disagree about Aaron, I don't see him as a disappointment at all.

He had a poor game against A&M. It happens. He also had a great game IMO against Ole Miss. :idunno:

If you guys have noticed each year Cal. has been here, and he does his Camp Cal during X-Mas break the players all come back and look exhausted, and tired, he might want to rethink this madness, it's happened every year, after X-mas break= tired team. :idunno:

I'll hop in this mess -- and stir it up . The bigs are over rated starting with WCS . Dude cant score unless its a dunk. Johnson gets his shot swatted more than any other 6'10 , 6'11 guy in the SEC . He cant elevate a bit . Lyles is doing Ok, but lacks the grit and experience to grind it out . So our bigs are putting the team in a hole with the pressure on the guards to score . And the Harrisons are not pure shooters , they are cool/cold more than they are warm/hot . Throw in the fact our offensive sets are not much more than a high pick and roll with the shot clock dwindling and you get poor performances.

having said that I'll root my guts out for each and every one of them. But I refuse to throw away what my eyes and head show me . Hopefully its just a short cold streak and we get back on track with a 30 pt blow out tonight

Worst 2 point shooting team since December. How can a team be "the best team in America" shooting 34% from the field in all shots less than 20 feet 9 inches? That's asinine. When they play a real team they'll get beat shooting like that. Too much talent to be shooting that poor of a percentage.

Watch the offense. they get very few easy shots. The ball is either swung from wing to wing at a frustratingly slow pace, or they do the weave at the top of the key and the ball goes nowhere. Then they get to under 10 on the shot clock and force a bad shot. That part of their game is painful to watch.

Lyles made arguably the 2 most important FT of the season as time expired to send it to another OT. So, I'll rebut that point.

Well I said he was doing ok. and yes the FT's were crucial . But the past two games the bigs have not done as well as the opposing teams bigs .

Maybe Camp Cal is an intentional way to prevent his teams from peaking in January.

Part of it is that they aren't getting to the offensive glass and getting easy second chance points as easy as they were earlier in the season.

And Wireman...very interesting idea.

Listen to what Calipari says on talk shows and during his media appearances. I've hear him say at least 5 times in the last week something along the lines of "and I don't want my team peaking right now..." or "we don't want to be playing our best basketball right now..."
