Josh Jaggers resigns from Larue County

Featured Replies

Don't know anything about the politics of LaRue County or the skeletons in the Super's closet that have been alluded to here, but if you do go out and apply for other jobs, you can't be shocked if the school decides to go in a different direction.

All I have to go by is the record as a head coach, so what is some of the evidence that Jaggers is the best coach for the job and has been wronged in this case? And if the talent is low what is the reason for that? I seem to remember some very good LaRue teams in the not so distant past.

LaRue County is a very small school in a rural community. The talent across the board in athletics is down considerably from the early-to-mid '00's heydays experienced by many of their teams. It's something that happens in a community that small.

Men, social media has changed the way everyone runs a school system, booster club, and football program. High School Football Coaches are under a microscope and the one's that suffer the effect of this is the young people that play the game. Coach Jaggers has stabalized a program that did not have a good little league program, and without it(so in a rural school you go through cycles), and he is in a tough cycle. Coach Jaggers will move on and be fine, because that is who he is, a football coach (knocked down/get up) guy. Mr. Sanders (Supt), and Mr.Dawson (AD), are both quality leaders and want this program to succeed, because they were apart of it as players. Again, Coach Jaggers will be fine and he will find the perfect fit, because there are programs that need him. Remember there are two types of coaches, those that have won and gotten a better job and those that have lost and are looking. Again, I am looking for great things Coach Jaggers and his family.

It doesn't mean they have to keep him in that position, they can move him anywhere they feel he is "needed".

They won't be getting that job. He teaches at another building, and didnt/doesn't get over to the high school until the last period of the day. I know for a fact that Sanders wasnt a fan of that. Despite the fact that 4 assistants are in the building and the numbers were growing each of his 3 years in the younger classes. Coaches applying for the job need to let the thought of them getting his teaching job exit their minds real quick.

He had no part in this decision. He and Jaggers are tight and Dawson pleaded his case for Josh to stay. What I know from those that were present in the team meeting on Friday is that Dawson is taking this as hard as anybody. This guy is a great leader and was in Jaggers' corner 200%.

From what I've heard, Dawson and Goodlett had no idea this was even coming. So please don't badmouth them on here over this. This firing -- because that's exactly what it is -- came from over their heads.

Again I tell of you administration have created all of this stuff about coaches leaving. Heck Nebraska has now fired 2 count them 2 head coaches that when they were fired had won 9 games with a bowl game left. Insanity they are doing this stuff now in high schools in KENTUCKY were football takes a back seat to hoops and that my friends is why coaches today will leave in a heartbeat if they can!!!

Depends on the reasoning. There isn't a person in the state of Kentucky who knows anything about Larue County, Larue County High School, Larue County High School athletic programs and their current state and the superintendent of Larue County schools who can say that firing, excuse me, forcing Josh Jaggers to resign was done for the betterment of the football program. Especially when one takes a closer look at the skeletons in the superintendent's closet. You should do some more research on this situation instead of making blanket statements about loyalty and who should be loyal to who. I question how much you know about this particular situation.

I said I know nothing about the situation. And I don't have to make the point I was making. You want to bust Larue for, in your opinion, not being loyal to Jaggers but you were one of the most fervent defenders of Coach Smith when he was, in my opinion, unloyal to the program he committed to for such a very short while. If you don't see the irony of that, I can't help you. And if your OP had simply addressed why you felt it was a bad decision by Larue and what a great job Jaggers had been doing, I'd not have even posted in this thread since I know nothing about Jagers nor Larue. It was the whole "schools need to be loyal to coaches" tirade in this thread when there are more and more coaches not loyal to their schools that motivated me to comment.

Coach Smith was loyal to a program and school. The one he built. Boyle County. The one that rejuvenated your program and made Dale Mueller change his whole coaching style.

If leaving a school after two weeks of being on the job qualifies as disloyal then I guess we have two different definitions of loyal. I know for a FACT Josh Jaggers never left Larue County when he could have out of loyalty and I know for a FACT that an unscrupulous superintendent fired him for no reason and did so without any approval or discussion from anyone else in Larue County. Again, whenever you want to do the proper research on this situation feel free to respond like you know what's really going on instead of going on a personal vendetta against Boyle County fans such as myself and Chuck Smith.

Let me get this straight the same guy who was in the news this past spring fired him?!

I honestly thought that Larue had a new super and he was making his changes.

It appears Josh Jaggers has not left Larue County due to having it made in his 8-3 job. It has nothing to do with loyalty to Larue County football. If it was strictly football, he would have been gone 2 years ago. I'll be surprised if he pulls up roots and coaches somewhere else while leaving his 8-3 job in Larue. He can stand on his own two feet coaching wise and has enough ties between his dad and granddad to land on his feet as a football coach if he wants to leave his "wonderful" 8-3 job at Larue.

As far as Chuck Smith is concerned, loyalty to Boyle County High School didn't have much to do with it, IMO. I don't think I'd call Smith loyal or disloyal, but he is self serving and would leave Boyle in a heartbeat if he thought he couldn't win at Boyle or if he was suddenly made to perform real classroom duties from 8-3.

Right or wrong, employment is a two way street. The coach can look for other jobs if he chooses and take them. Administrations can find another coach if they want. There is no honor among thieves.

It doesn't mean they have to keep him in that position, they can move him anywhere they feel he is "needed".

Only positions he is certified to teach, and there are zero open nor anticipated. He's gonna stay in that cushy job as long as he wants.

He should have gone to Henderson County when he had the chance. They had a pretty good 8-3 job for him there.

Funny, Chuck Smith didn't leave Boyle for Troy with Neal Brown. Seems like that would have been pretty self serving.

I LOVE how Boyle County and Chuck Smith was pulled into this conversation. :lol2:

If he was offered the Henderson job with a pretty good 8-3 gig he should have gotten the heck out of Larue County on the first bus to take him. Was he offered the job? You are obviously friends with Josh, so I guess you would know. Do you have the same outrage for this situation? It is virtually the same scenario.

I'm not sure how Smith got pulled into this either...but make no mistake, if he were offered a 150,000 a year job a Troy he would have taken it. He was not offered a job at Troy or any other division 1 job since being fired at UK with Phillips staff.

Billy Martin was the fallback option had Lewis turned that job down. Josh would not have gotten an offer.

They won't be getting that job. He teaches at another building, and didnt/doesn't get over to the high school until the last period of the day. I know for a fact that Sanders wasnt a fan of that. So a Superintendent that didn't want him as a coach and "forced" him out wouldn't force him out of his "cushy" teaching job? Tenure just means that he can't be fired from his teaching position without just cause, they can put him in the cafeteria as a lunch room attendant if they want, they just have to pay him teacher pay.
