It was Sheldon Clark's coach Shawn Hager, who had the support of parents and players, which got him reinstated rather quickly. It seems that he never should have been let go in the first place, though I must admit some bias, as I grew up with Shawn and we were football and basketball teammates. I haven't seen the guy in over 20 years, but I'd bet my last dollar that he's a good coach.

He is. Shawn has been really successful at SC and has done more with less than many coaches would have. It has been a tough couple of years at SC with a downturn in talent, and I don't think they get the kind of support from above they deserve. He is a good coach, though.

I would say the people making the call on this are wanting to get there boy in there and taking advantage of a down year to do it. Happened at Madison Central last year

That is in Jaggars case and I am sure it was in the case of Shawn

I like Josh a lot. He is a very good young coach. Someone will get a good one when they hire Josh!

Thats great Mountain ref! But you are very right how can people expect coaches to be loyal when school systems have no loyalty! It has become a cutthroat business even at the high school level!

It's a tough situation and Jagger's 3 year record was 8-26 which isn't anything special. But some on here have said it's due to lack of talent, which I'm not close to that program so I don't have the inside info just going to numbers.

 

Just from the outside looking in I just believe the folks of LaRue co. might have expected bigger things in the drop down to 3A. Also looking that Jagger's won 6 games and a playoff game his first year, and fallowed that up with a win less season. Then this past year only won 2. I hate it for him because he seemed to be a VERY hot name before even becoming a head coach and his named was mentioned for several jobs. I hope this doesn't prevent him from getting looks as he continues his coaching career.

The folks in Larue County still want him there as the coach. That's why there is a lot of talk of getting a petition circulated with hopes of him being allowed to remain as the head coach at Larue County. There is only person who wants him gone and that guy holds the biggest hammer despite his own transgressions that should probably be looked into further if I was on the Board of Education at Larue County.

Everywhere you go there are going to be down years. Larue didn't want him anymore obviously, that could be a blessing for Josh, who is a very good coach. Jaggers will land on his feet somewhere. It will be better situation for him and his family.

I could be mistaken but the only job that he applied for last season was a Central Hardin. I know he did not apply for the Elizabethtown job and he did not pursue the Garrard County job even though he thought long and hard about returning to the area close to family. The year before he applied for the Henderson County job and then withdrew his name from consideration fairly early in the process. You're right, the issues go much deeper. Force him to resign as head football coach but keep him as a teacher. :lol2:

I think that had a lot to do with it. Truth be told, I believe this year was expected to be the worst of the two (13-14).

 

Going off the article in the paper; In 2012 when he won 6 and beat Corbin in the playoffs, he had to replace the entire backfield going into that year from the 2011 season that graduated two RB's who finished in the Top 10 on the All Time Rushing list at LC.

 

Enter 2013, he had to replace that entire backfield again and by the 2nd game of the season, he had to replace THAT entire backfield (all three were gone. One had gotten in trouble outside of football/school in late May. Another was injured in a preseason scrimmage and the 3rd moved). This year I don't think there was any way around playing the ridiculous number of freshmen. If a coach takes over a job knowing that his junior and sophomore classes at the time were extremely low numbers, everybody might want to make a quick note to self.

 

I know the paper also said that he was voted Coach of the Year by two different outlets and groups of coaches. Sounds to me like you got a guy that...could he have probably done a few things different? Without question. I'm not sure there is a coach who does. But, also sounds like a guy that walked into a not so good situation & had some serious bad luck a long the way as well.
