The Hoge play began with one of the best fake's I have ever seen. Awesome job selling the fake and literally had CovCath kids doing a 180. That made the play a success.

 

After that, Hoge showed great start and stop and change of direction. Great athleticism. I was impressed that the Highlands blockers stayed with the play and made it down field late in the run. Excellent high school play.

 

It did appear as though the CovCath defenders were playing flag football though. They kept reaching with one hand out.

An exciting game to the end. I have enjoyed watching the CCH seniors since CYF and a select few even longer in NKYFL.

 

You all gave it everything you had tonight and came up just 3 points short. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

 

Great display of Class and Heart getting the season back on track. There is a reason for the motto "With a Spirit that will not die!" You guys get it.

 

My son is a Senior and I will miss the Friday nights and Saturday afternoons (and a couple very hot mornings.) Thank you for the memories.

Thing of beauty!

I will say that the TD drive at the end of the 1st half was a thing of beauty.

 

We said the same thing at the time. The answer by the Birds after CovCath had scored cutting the lead to 20-13 and knowing they would receive the 2nd Half kickoff may have been the biggest TD of the season.

It was one of the few times I can remember following the wrong ball carrier bc the fake was so good. I wasn't alone. Everybody around me was faked out too.

RE: the taking a knee/running a play sitch.

 

Sounds like there was confusion as to who took the TO when HHS got the first down. Board showed 1 TO left. No one was sure if the TO was by CCH or the officials. I think the fact that they took a knee at the 8 when it was clear CCH was out of TOs backs that up.

 

Imagine the craziness had there been a fumble!

CCH took their last TO when HHS had the ball on the 22. Birds ran one more play down to the 8 . They the took a knee. What's the debate here? Maybe Coach W didn't realize they were out of TOs? He took a knee so there's no thought that he was trying to run it up.

 

I'm surprised I didn't hear people go bananas about that timeout. If I'm remembering right, CCH called a timeout with 1:46 left in the game, with the clock stopped. That was their last timeout, so if my math is correct, the game was over right then.

Loved the heart and effort tonight from the good guys. I'm proud to be a Colonel.

He did a great job on the last drive running hard and picking up 2 of the 3 first downs that iced the game. Pulsfort had a strong run as well in the 3rd quarter. Highlands running attack is coming along nicely.

One has to wonder after watching Wagner's outstanding game THROWING the ball last night if the entire approach/spread/playing calliing was in line with what the entire offense should have been doing all season. I get the wave of the game is the shotgun/spread offense...but man, watching that game last night, I kept thinking....hmmm, two big tight ends, a dominant tackle and a solid rest of your line...why weren't they running more power offense, under center and more intermediate down the field passing?

 

I'm still trying to figure out why Wirth didn't utilize #49 any more after his - I think - two catches in the first half where he mauled the linebacker/safety covering him. Seems like a team more suited for the "Lynn Ray" type of offense than the spread hybrid attack. To me, you have to build your offense around what you have, not your team around an offense.

 

And, good god, the no huddle/wristbands/entire team staring at the sideline...please move away from that.
