I do wish HHS would have let more clock expire in between plays at the end when the clock was on their side.

 

I go back & forth on this. Do you get more benefit in the 4th quarter by the constant drumbeat of snapping the ball as quickly as it is set and imposing your will on the other team ("don't care if you are ready, here we come")? Conditioning and substitutions clearly make this the mantra in the 1st 3 qtrs.

Do you run your play, wait for the ball to be reset, listen / watch for the white hat to signal the ball ready, wait 24 seconds and then snap the ball? Would have shortened the 4th qtr by 10-20 plays. If you have a multiple possession lead, it is an easier call.

 

The last thing you want to do is take the air out of the "building," fail to execute on a play and end up having to punt the ball after only 2:00 of possession. Coach Weinrich obviously had faith in his players allowing them to go on a 10-15 play drive to end the game instead of a 8-10 play drive.

 

CCH's best play once HHS crossed midfield would have been to let the runner score. Throw deep a couple times, get a score and then try an onside kick.

Absolutely! I was impressed by the turn around from game 1. I find it hard to believe there are 7 better teams in NKY than CCH at the end of the season. If they can get their offensive confusion under control they beat most teams in NKY handily.

Does it not constitute "12 men in the huddle" when 14 guys stand all over the field then at last second 3 come off? I guess it's a gray area is since they don't technically huddle they get away with it. Still wastes a lot of unnecessary time on their part. Keep Wirth and get a new O Coordinator.

Most CCH realists weren't buying into the streak ending this year. I think it's 2 years away but think they got a shot next year.

I'd have no problem with one of the last couple spots. I was really pulling for CCH this year and thought they had a shot, but their season went south fast. Even in this game being down 20 before scratching the scoreboard doesn't really make the game as close as the score showed IMO.

Breaking the huddle with 12 is a bit of a misnomer.

 

The rule doesn't say anything about breaking the huddle as far as I can tell. It just says that when a sub comes in the player being replaced has to leave within 3 seconds.

 

So if a sub runs to the huddle and the huddle breaks 1 second later it's not yet a penalty. If the other player heads off within the next two seconds it's nothing.

 

Someone asked what if there's no huddle. Same rule. 3 seconds to start leaving.

Amen brother.... As the parent of one of those seniors, I appreciate this post very much. Our boys battle for the regional title but in the end it's good for N.Ky football pride to root for the victors.

I hate to jump on the coattails of Highlands but as a JC fan I can honestly say that we always root for our Regional brethren in the playoffs. If we are unable to breakthrough the region why not cheer for your counterparts. After we were bounced this year I could not pick two better and classy programs to represent us other than HHS and CCH. Both of these teams are the definition of a championship program displaying everything from fan support, sportsmanship, doing things the right way and everything in between. On a personal note, Horst I cannot imagine the great pride that you take in to being able to see your son achieve the greatness that only a few are privileged to. I hope that you all enjoy this experience and have it end the way you all desire. Best of luck to the Bluebirds the rest of the way.
