Never that. It's been too much fun in here to get serious about stuff. Plus I learned a long time ago that just because my political beliefs aren't the same as a person is doesn't make that person a bad person or anything like that. I may have more republican friends and family than democrat friends and family. I can hardly take politics seriously anymore these days. Life is too short.

I thought the Koch brothers was just made up boogey men who became the obsession of Harry Reid. Are there actually other dems that really think they are that big a deal? More so than George Soros on the left??

I learned a long time ago that both sides have their nutjobs.

But at the time of the decision, the UN inspectors had confirmed NO WMD.

 

I don't believe the inspectors ever went as far to confirm no WMD. How could a few dozen people search a country the size of Iraq thoroughly and go as far as confirming there are no WMD hidden in that country. I am pretty sure they only said they found none where they inspected, that provides only a moderate (if that?) amount of assurace.

 

Those same inspectors also complained they were limited to where the Iraqis would allow them to inspect which supports the Clinton and W. administrations' and the intelligence community's assumptions that despite the inspectors not finding any, it sure smelled like they were being hidden and the fact that Saddam HAD USED WMD on the Kurds not too many years before the war, it is difficult to believe he used up his entire inventory and would not replenish.

 

In W's book, he states that military intelligence reported back to him what when Saddam captured, he was questioned why he would refuse the inspectors access to certain areas if he truly had no WMD, Saddam's answer was that he needed Iran to believe he still had them because even with the Iran/Iraq War over, tension still existed and he needed the belief that he had WMD to dissuade more military action by Iran. So far no one has disputed this conversation did not occur and news outlets would probably pay for such juicy testimony against a president.

 

I do admit that the possibility he did lie about the WMD exists but as I look at what the previous administration said several times, what the intelligence community was telling W and congress, that inspectors were refused access to certain areas, what Saddam said himself after capture, I think the probability of him not believing that Iraq had WMD gets smaller and smaller and after the nation was just attacked, I think just about everyone in the Federal Government (D and R) panicked that the members of Al Quada (however you spell it) were reported to be in Iraq and immediately the fear that such WMD were being sourced to Al Quada became the assumption of most in DC. I would have to think this why a large number of democrats supported military action in Iraq. The number of time Saddam kicked out inspectors have drove up red flags for everyone and therefore a decent number of democrats supported the invasion. Recall during the 2004 election how many democrats who wanted to run against Bush backed off because they too were guilty of being duped. John Kerry himself I believe supported military action but was given somewhat of a pass due to it being somewhat quiet support.

Colin Powell's bogus declaration to U.N. effectively ended his political career. Bush and Cheney used him like a ventriloquist's dummy.

Don't hold your breath on that one. Last I saw unarmed black people are still at risk in today's society.
