My thoughts are we could actually take care of those already on the programs so much better without letting 5 million ILLEGAL immigrants gain access to the system. Its just so wrong in my rather plain thinking brain .

I think everyone agrees our borders should be more secure. But to answer your question, those 5 million are already in. Many, if not most are working (and in jobs and positions many natural citizens won't take), paying taxes and spending money in our economy. And even more would pay taxes if you take away the possibility of deportation. And furthermore, the only "crime" they've committed is crossing our border trying to make a better life....much like the immigrants that came to this country in the very beginning...the very premise this country was founded upon. Why would we want to remove so many hard working, law abiding people?? And lets face it, it will take a massive expansion of government and bureaucracy (both at a great cost) to undertake the jobs of rounding them up, processing them, and transporting them back. Not to mention the effect on the economy and businesses of removing millions of workers from the labor pool. Deporting millions of people is just not an economically or technically feasible proposition. Not to mention the fact it is just completely against how this country was founded, and why it was created.

That's a meaningless argument. The Constitution is always subject to interpretation. Supreme Court can't even agree whether the Constitution is a living or dead document.

While the ones doing it the correct way wait in line for years.

It's worked great until this POTUS.

 

It is what this country was founded on. I take personal offense to your statement considering I served my country and swore to uphold and protect it. In my jobs after I got out of the military I also took an oath to uphold and protect it also.

It is the Peoples Constitution. It is the only thing that protects (or is supposed to) us against a tyrannical government - and all governments becomes tyrannical at some point. All of them.

One thing that's always bothered me about amnesty is rewarding those who broke our laws and placing them ahead of those who are in line trying to come in the legal way. Just doesn't seem right to me. I think there should be some type of financial penalty attached to any amnesty.
