Is there a new rule about the number of rebounders on a free throw?

Only rule change I heard was entering the lane on the release.

That can be done now?

Please explain a little further Mr. Clyde sir.

If I'm correct, in the past, you could only enter the lane once the ball hit the rim.

Basketball Rules Changes - 2014-15

3-5-3: Arm sleeves, knee sleeves, lower leg sleeves and tights are permissible:

a. Anything worn on the arm and/or leg is a sleeve, except a knee brace, and shall meet the color restrictions.

b. The sleeves/tights shall be black, white, beige or the predominant color of the uniform and the same color sleeves/tights shall be worn by teammates.

c. All sleeves/tights shall be the same solid color.

d. Meet the logo requirements in 3-6. Note: In general, a brace is defined as anything that contains hinges and/or straps or an opening over the knee cap.

4-19-3d: Intentional fouls include but are not limited to: Excessive contact with an opponent while the ball is live or until an airborne shooter returns to the floor.

9-1-4g: A player occupying a marked lane space…may enter the lane on the release of the ball by the free throw shooter.

10-6-12 NEW: The following acts constitute a foul when committed against a ball handler/dribbler:

a. Placing two hands on the player.

b. Placing an extended arm bar on the player.

c. Placing and keeping a hand on the player.

d. Contacting the player more than once with the same hand or alternating hands.

Re new rule 10-6-12 d.: What if as a defender you first engage the handler/dribbler, for example, beyond the head of the circle and you put a hand on him one time, surely the rule can't mean that you cannot put a hand on him a second time after he has dribbled to a corner, for instance, and you're still defending him......or can it?

I think the spirit of the rule is you can't jab like a boxer while defending.

So, what they're saying is...an elbow to the kidneys is legal, right?

Rebounders can enter the lane upon release of the ball by the free throw shooter.

Any idea when it changed to when the ball hit the rim? My wife graduated in 1990 and it was on release then. There was several years when we didn't keep up with HS basketball. When we started attending again, it was when it hits the rim. That has always irritated my wife. She is glad it is going back to the release.

I also think that there are now only five rebounders. 2 offensive, 3 defensive, and 1 shooter. This was being enforced over the summer. So one side of the lane only has two people on it.

The "new" rule is now the "old" rule, mused to be you could enter the lane on the release in my day. I love it. The no enter the lane till it "hits the rim" was a horrible rule I always thought and put the non-shooting team in a bad position.

What this really means is,,,,,the first game in the 16th region will last 4 hours and have 60 fouls and the bench better be ready.
