Will Patrick Towles play Pro Football?

Featured Replies

You asked,

Will Patrick Towles play Pro Football?

I think the answer is yes, he will play Pro Football somewhere if he chooses. You didn't ask if he will play in the NFL but my answer to that is what many have already said, lets wait and see with more college games under his belt. As far as I am concerned I surely do hope the Pro Football he plays will be in the NFL.

Ole Miss Senior QB Bo Wallace's stats against LSU: 14-33 176 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. 91 QBR, Wallace's lowest of the season. With all that said, Wallace also made quite a few bad decisions last night. All I'm saying is that the best way to judge Towles as a sophomore might not be against a VERY good LSU pass defense.

I think the topic question is a little premature. We all hope to see Patrick playing on Sundays just like we loved watching S Alexander, but after only a handful of games as a starter we are already looking for the answer about the NFL?

i understand the needing to create topics that will stir the imagination, but anyone who truly knows one way or the other on the answer is way too quick.

He has possibly 2 more years and at the very least 1 more year to show what he can do to the NFL scouts. I'm willing to wait until after next year to see.

I could say the same thing about the Miss St. game. To judge Towles after any one game, or 8 games, or one season, is unfair to him. His pro prospects will emerge if we give him time.

I think so but I hope he stays in Lexington for two more seasons. I can see him in NYC for the Heisman presentation in a few years.

Is he thinking about transferring?

Short answer, barring injury, he WILL be on an nfl roster. Go to Vegas and bet on it.

He is only a Sophomore hopefully he stays for his Junior and Senior year!

I hope the thought here is not about Patrick declaring for the NFL, prior to using all his eligibility at UK.

Never say never, but this isn't going to happen. No way.

.....

Preface: I am a huge fan of Patrick.

After 8 starts, with their biggest win coming by running the wildcat about 231 straight times, we are putting him as a Heisman finalist and a "top QB"? Holy premature hyperbole, Batman. I hope he develops into that type of player, will be good for UK and the state, but we are a mile from that. Heck, 9 months ago his delivery was so slow he couldn't play, and 3 months ago he was trying to hold off a true freshman. I think the future could be bright, but way too early to tell. He had an amazing game on Saturday, for sure, but let's pump the brakes a little.

Given his frame & physical tools, I think he could develop into the type of QB that gets a shot in the NFL...most 3 year starters in the SEC do.

I did- Towles went 19-36 for 146 yards with no TD's. He didn't elevate his offense at all. Since the thread is about Towles and his professional aspirations, I think it is fair to point to this offensive performance. IMO, this proves that he hasn't demonstrated the consistency and doesn't display the lights out elite level skills that guarantee that he will be a pro. And, yes, this thread would have been laughable after that performance.

Fair or unfair for $200 Alex? :lol2:

Did you read my original post?

I stated that it is early to make a decision on Towles' status. To ask this question after his best game is to ignore his other performances. That is why this thread didn't appear last week. Were folks asking about Towles' pro asperations after the Ohio game? What about after throwing 3 picks against Florida? What about after his first half against Louisiana Monroe?

His performances have not been consistent enough to make a call one way or the other, IMO. He does not exhibit elite skills to make a call right now, IMO. He still has time, he is in a great situation to develop and he has some obvious strengths.

If you want to hand him the keys to an NFL franchise after one game, that is your business. He hasn't done enough FOR ME to answer that question yet.

They brought in the #1 2017 QB today.. That is concerning for Drew.

Why?

If Johnson were to come in 2017 - he red shirts, then sits a year. Barker starts '17 & '18. Johnson still has three years of eligibitlity.

Johnson, would probably be looking at the same scenario almost anywhere he goes.

Will he get draft, maybe/probably. Will he have a long career in the NFL as anything more then a back up, not likely. As a matter of fact it's a safer bet that he plays less than a few years as a back up before moving on to something else.
