October 25, 201411 yr It is still too early, IMO. He hasn't shown Peyton or Cam or Luck elite level ability where you would think he is an obvious choice barring injury. He has shown flashes. This thread would have been laughed at after the LSU game. We have to see how it plays out, but he us in a good spot and has some obvious strengths.

UK's special teams coach won't be going pro. PT will be a pro.
October 25, 201411 yr UK's special teams coach won't be going pro. PT will be a pro. Offense scored 3 points- that doesn't fall on the special teams coach.
October 26, 201411 yr Way to early to tell. He can look really good at times, and inconsistent at other times. However you would think the consistency will get better if he remains the starter the next few years.
October 26, 201411 yr Offense scored 3 points- that doesn't fall on the special teams coach. Did you see the LSU game last week? Nuff said.
October 26, 201411 yr I think he is heading in the right direction. I am enjoying watching Patrick grow as a quarterback. His touchdown pass to Javess Blue today was a pro throw. In fact, there might not be a better throw all weekend. He needs to improve on getting the ball out quicker, by reading and anticipating throws a little better. As it stands now, Patrick could be a three year (on top of getting some playing time as a true freshman) starter in the SEC, which bodes well to getting a legitimate shot in the NFL.
October 26, 201411 yr Did you see the LSU game last week? Nuff said. I did- Towles went 19-36 for 146 yards with no TD's. He didn't elevate his offense at all. Since the thread is about Towles and his professional aspirations, I think it is fair to point to this offensive performance. IMO, this proves that he hasn't demonstrated the consistency and doesn't display the lights out elite level skills that guarantee that he will be a pro. And, yes, this thread would have been laughable after that performance.
October 26, 201411 yr One great game or one not so good game does not determine that at all. He needs the two upcoming seasons. With that said, he has the arm and the size, pro scouts are already probably being enamored with that. Can he read and adjust to pro defenses and can he release the ball quicker and timely? He has a long way to go in those two areas. He may very well get drafted, but no one really knows except the very few elite, like Luck if they will make it and stick. The young man is doing better than I thought he would.

If PT can get a better cast of players around him, you might see it a little differently. PT accounted for all but 27 yards of offense today. He did everything but sell popcorn today. Where is the SEC type running back, seems like UK is the only team that doesn't have one. What about the WR's that can't catch a pass that hits them right in the hands. How about some better O line players. This is his first year as a starter. He has at least 2 more years to improve and we shall see. Special teams consistently give UK either terrible field position or short fields to the opponents and yea, some easy TD's. I wouldn't know the special teams coach if I ran into him. Every time he's on camera, the only thing I see is the back of coach stoops head while he is in his face. It's laughable that you pick one game to base your opinion. That's it, pick one game when the whole team played terrible. We are not talking about PT being in the pros tomorrow or anytime soon. Jeesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you read my original post? I stated that it is early to make a decision on Towles' status. To ask this question after his best game is to ignore his other performances. That is why this thread didn't appear last week. Were folks asking about Towles' pro asperations after the Ohio game? What about after throwing 3 picks against Florida? What about after his first half against Louisiana Monroe? His performances have not been consistent enough to make a call one way or the other, IMO. He does not exhibit elite skills to make a call right now, IMO. He still has time, he is in a great situation to develop and he has some obvious strengths. If you want to hand him the keys to an NFL franchise after one game, that is your business. He hasn't done enough FOR ME to answer that question yet.

October 26, 201411 yr Being 6'5 with his arm and running ability will make him a top QB in 2016. Fans of Logan Thomas said the same thing a couple of years ago. We really need to see his development
