Towles regressed as the season went on. He was completely overwhelmed and over matched against the majority of conference opponents and UofL.

 

If the Cats had even an average QB under center they'd be going bowling.

First, my response was not about any particular QB. It was more of a commentary on fans. Star one week going to the NFL and a scrub a few weeks later who can't play.

 

To answer your question, I've told people for quite a while that PT didn't have the QB1 position wrapped up for next season. It will be a legit competition and it's open for the taking.. He didn't do enough to secure it. He can, however, still win it.

IMO, this would be a mistake and has cost UK very valuable reps the past 2 years. I could understand saying Towles is QB1 and it is his job to lose. Then give Barker and company opportunities to earn more reps and the win the job. They must have a legit starter coming out of spring football. If they do the wide open approach with mixing reps of who starts and equal reps, they will be the same sorry offense next fall. The QB selection situation at UK has been a huge reason for lack of offensive success the past 2 years.

I believe they will. Even more important to name the starter early since that guy will need the reps installing a new offensive system.

Will be interesting to see what the new OC brings in.

This is really a multi-part question, as "play pro football" can mean a number of things: Can he make an NFL practice squad?, make an NFL active roster?, will he start for an NFL team? make a Canadian League or Arena League roster?, start for a Canadian League or Arena League team?. My take: Yes, probably, doubtful, yes, yes.

He has all the physical tools needed. Based on that I know a team would take a flyer on him at least.
