Phantom4753 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Good win, did what they had to do and everyone stayed healthy
Voice of Reason Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Not much to say other than it was about as dominating as a game can get. Beechwood starting putting in backups in the second quarter and the JV played the second half. Here is the scoring summary: First Quarter 10:26 ... Slusher interception return for TD 40 yards ..... 6-0 6:44 .... After Slusher recovered a Dayton fumble, Fieger to Plageman 23 yards, German XP ...13-0 4:24 .... Stringer 3 yard run, German XP .... 20-0 2:51 .... Cottingham interception return for TD 45 yards, German XP ... 27-0 0:55 ... After Plageman interception, Stringer 3 yard TD run, German XP ... 34-0 Second Quarter 3:49 ... Fieger to Jeremy Burns 12 yard TD pass, German XP ... 41-0 Third Quarter 7:16 ... Soward 1 yard run, Mescher XP ... 48-0 Fourth Quarter 11:47 ... Justice 20 yard run, Mescher XP ...55-0 7:11 .... Birindelli 25 yard run, Mescher XP ... 62-0 Beechwood was able to run out the final 4+ minutes on the clock by running it up the middle then taking a knee.
BigTuna6 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Not surprised. Beechwood has Ludlow next right? I don't expect anything different.
theguru Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Not surprised. Beechwood has Ludlow next right? I don't expect anything different. You mean big Beechwood win or Beechwood will hold the score down again? Beechwood and Ludlow have had some issues in the past with that, right?
snakesnot_2000 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Glad to hear Beechwood kept the score down. When you play these overmatched teams it's hard to keep the score down.
autopart101 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 BW is good. Dayton very bad. I know BW has to play this game but what can they get from this?? Heck BWs JV would beat Dayton.
Mustang Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Innocent question, But what does Beechwood get out of being Class 1-A for the next four years except 16 more lopsided blowouts and four more odds on State Championships now that Mayfield is heading to 2-A??? Could Beechwood have opted to go 2-A, or was that not an option? They would be a great fit in 2-A and have a much more measurable sense of accomplishment by beating equally talented competition, and actually having something to brag about by winning a state title. How many 1A programs that you know of have a turf field and a football dedicated "fieldhouse" to work out in? Is the system skewed, and is it maybe time that the KHSAA uses a new measuring stick other than enrollment to determine classification??? How about number of kids who come out for football, or how about $$$$ spent on their football program??? I have no bones to pick with Beechwood, and our program certainly is not in a postion to contend for a state championship, but they now seem to loom over the field. Just askin
footstomp Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 All good points, but it doesn't matter how you slice it, the current system is the best. I actually think its watered down with 6 classes but that's a different thread. Some teams are always going to have an advantage, and by inserting one of your points into the system someone will figure out how to play the system better than it was setup.

Just askin All good points, Mustang. I would have liked to see Beechwood in 2A. Just no fun to have them play Dayton, Bellevue, Brossart, Ludlow. They already play Holy Cross and Newcath, so what's the big difference beside the playoff match ups? Newcath has proven that the winner of their district has great odds of playing in the state finals. Just my opinion.

Why not want two teams from here have a shot at getting out of region? Brossart is not in district, nor are they on the schedule, and I believe they are 2a The Breds have two really bad playoff games as well annually, every bit as weak as BWs. No matter what class you are in, by the time you hit the third round you see a pretty good team. I'd rather see the KHSAA adopt that only the top two teams in each district make the playoffs. Why prolong a teams schedule for a week to lose on a running clock? If the outcome is almost a certainty, especially in football, why risk the injury?
